They All Meet

Perry P.O.V

It was 2:30 in the morning. The lights were off. I was busy reading 'The Four Keepers' and thinking about what happened yesterday. When I was with Cole at the library, reading the same book I was reading. It was about four kids with different abilities. I was also thinking about Riley and Jack. Jack, Jack, Jack. There was something special about him. I wasn't able to read his mind, no matter how hard I tried. I couldn't place my finger on why.

Suddenly, I heard someone climbing the ladder. The first person that came to mind was, Joshua. I put the book on the bedside table and pretended to be sleeping. Everything was in place. The hatch opened up and Joshua popped up to see if the coast was clear. I let go of the string I was holding and a bunch of dominos started to cause a chain reaction. Once the dominos ended it spelt out "GO AWAY!". Then a basketball started rolling across the shelves and landed in the laundry basket which dropped a sign saying "IF YOU DON'T LEAVE". The sign knocked over a cup that spilt a red fluid onto a piece of canvas and spelt out "YOU WILL PAY!". He got so spooked he ran, screamed and fell through the hatch and shut it tight.

I turned on the light and laughed so hard I fell off my bed and landed on the canvas with the words. "I better get this all cleaned up," I said to myself as I picked up the canvas and put back under my bed. I put everything back to where it came from and went down to clean myself up.

I passed Joshua's room and saw him under the covers and asked "Joshua? What's up with you?". He looked at me and said "What? I'm fine! Nothing's wrong with your room, it's definitely not haunted. Wait, why are you covered in blo-" Then he fainted. I guess I scared him more than I meant too. Joshua didn't get annoyed with me when I called him Joshua instead of Josh. It was weird. At least he wasn't going to bother stealing my room.

It was the next day and Jack and Riley came over with Cole. I didn't know they knew each other. "Oh hey, guys" I greeted them and let them come in. Hey Perry, this is Cole," Jack responded. I saw Cole with a cheerful smile and was wearing a white loose shirt with a black leather jacket and black jeans with black converse.

"Hey Cole, what page of the book did you read up to?" I asked. I photocopied the book at the library and gave him the copied version. "I'm on page 197,"
"Same!" I said. The other two looked at us with confusing looks
"You guys know each other? Since when?" Riley asked, looking a little jealous. I saw how she felt about Cole, but he didn't like her like that. "Yeah, we actually met yesterday at the library. We took out the same book," Cole chuckled while blushing. I knew he had a crush on me but I wanted him to tell me, not me reading his mind. "That's cool, we wanted to ask if you could hang with us today. Wanna join us?" Jack asked trying to break the ice.
"Sure, I'll be back in a few minutes. You can sit on the couch if you'd like" I said being a good host.

I ran upstairs and tapped my phone to start the timer. I changed into a blouse and jeans and pulled my sweater over my head and put my beanie on top. As I ran down the stairs, I grabbed my purse and phone and started putting my converse shoes on. I jumped, landed on the bottom floor and tapped my phone causing the timer to stop. 'Yes, 1 min 30 seconds, a new record,' I thought to myself.

I entered the living room. "Wow, how did you get dressed that fast? It usually takes me an hour or so!" Riley exclaimed. An hour? That long? "It's easy if you're dedicated. Now come on, let's go," I said.

Cole's P.O.V

We were on our way to the desert that was across the gas station. I was talking with Perry and Riley was talking with Jack. I was glad they were spending alone time together. Ok, I know it's not entirely alone since Perry and I were right behind them. But come on, yesterday was the first time they were actually alone. Weird, huh? Mainly because Riley always hangs out with me and then Jack is like a third wheel

(I'm gonna call the gas station Vader Web, I know it ain't the best name but I don't want to write gas station all the time. It's boring😝)

We made it to Vader Web, where we would usually hang out. Since it was Saturday, I didn't have work. Nor did Riley, which was lucky. We went into the little convenience store and grabbed a drink. "Guess where we're going," Riley said to Perry. "Hmm, maybe the desert across this gas station," Perry replied only seconds later.
"How did you know?" Jack asked.
"Lucky guess?" Perry shrugged. I couldn't hold back a chuckle. We bought our drinks and left Vader Web to go to our secret base.

Riley's P.O.V

We made to the base. It was an old worn out house. I found it when I was escaping... Anyway, Cole, Jack and I fixed it up. So on the outside, it looks like a dump, but on the inside, it's pretty much the ultimate hang out. There was a kitchen, a living room and a disco party room. It was basically a house like any other. We each had our own rooms. It was pretty cool... But there were two rooms that we never entered. One was a spare room and the other had terrible things in it. "This is... AWESOME!" Perry exclaimed. We each smiled as she stared in awe at the inside.
"Shall we go for a tour?" Cole asked.
"Of course," Perry exclaimed. We started walking around the base.

We finally made it to the spare room. "Perry, we decided to let you have this room. We each have our own rooms so know we wanna give you one," Jack said. Perry was smiling. The room was already furnished with a bed, desk and even a bookshelf. "Thanks so much, but why are you being nice to me?" She asked. We looked at her confused. To be honest, none of us knew why. "Because, we want to be your friend and you're kinda like us," Cole was the first to say. I caught on soon after. "You're different, I can feel it," I said. She looked at us with a cheerful smile.
"Thanks again, you guys are the best," Perry said.

Jack's P.O.V

We gave Perry the spare room at our base, but I didn't understand what Riley and Cole meant when they said 'You're like us' and 'You're different'. Was I different too? I had questions buzzing in my head! I couldn't wrap my head around it.

As we were passing the forbidden room, Perry stopped and stared at the door. It was the only room we didn't show her and, of course, she was curious. "What's in this room?" She asked. We looked at each other, but neither of us could say anything. Perry focused on us for a few seconds, that's when I felt the shadow. It was back. I hated it. That shadow had no right to enter my mind. I blocked my mind and ignored it. Perry sighed and reached out to grab the handle. We all jumped to stop her but before we could, the door started to glow. We were sucked into the room and was knocked out.
