"When it was all said and done, you said I'd be the only person you'd ever love for the rest of your life. I'm your wife, the mother of your kids, and the wind beneath your very wings... what's made it go this far that I'd even consider such a thought? Huh? Can you please tell me that, Malcolm?" -Paris Vaughn-Stewart
"I used to often ask myself where'd the time go, ya' know? What's changed between us that it's made me even consider divorce? I've never believed in it whatsoever..." Paris trails off, biting her nerves away from the tips of her fingernails.
Jules shakes her head, hanging on to her best friend's hand as it rested in hers. It was a wondrous Saturday morning, dreadful more so to say, and no sound was being made throughout the house.
Latavia had gone to spend the night at her best friend, Shelton's house to escape the treading terror. She couldn't release or even grasp the thought of her mom and dad considering divorce. Latavia knew nothing of what had spiraled between them, but she wanted answers and needed them before it became too chaotic to bear.
Shelton needed to comfort her best friend before she threatened to rip her hair from her head, luckily she had a freshly done sew-in in her hair to prevent actual hair damage. The duo were as thick as thieves after meeting over the summer going into their Freshmen year of high school.
Shelton started to love and grow attached to Latavia, and could possibly consider the sweet, innocent little girl to be her best friend slash sister as such. Shelton was only two months older than Latavia, but oftentimes by Latavia's maturity level and keen common sense, she felt more like her little sister than anything else.
Octavia adored their friendship and hoped to gain such a friend like her. But like with her own family, her so-called "besties" burned their bridges with the likes of her. She despises a fake friend and what they make themselves out to be. She was throwing in the towel with finding a new friend at the moment, but she knows it won't be long before she finds someone else her parents would be pleased to meet.
As for Eric, he decided to stay the night at Jules' house with Julian. The two had wanted no parts of the unfolding drama, even if Malcolm was gone for the next few days. The negative energy was a no go for the both of them and they wanted to be as far apart from it all as they possibly could be.
"I don't understand this shit... I mean... do you think that they're sleeping together? You know, she's probably faking everything to cover that up?" Jules asks Paris, gripping onto her hand tighter.
Paris shrugs her shoulders and sinks her weary body down slowly into the crevice of the couch, throwing the blanket over her head.
Jules hears a tired sigh leave the folds of her mouth and her shoulders heave up, then down, and again but slower than the first time.
"I think I need to call Doctor Fisher..."
"No," Jules speaks up, shaking her head from side to side. "You need to call on God, baby. That's who's gonna help you with everything."
Jules pulled Paris into her, embracing her body as she massaged her back around, up and down in circular motions for a more soothing comfort.
She too was in shock of Paris's sudden outburst, but couldn't help but agree with the fact that things have now become more confusing and is leaving a bad taste in everyone's mouths.
They're kids in an uproar, marriage falling apart at the seams, nothing seems to be going right and they've never been hit harder than now. For Paris, she'd rather be hit by a truck full of bricks than to grasp the black ballpoint pin in her hand, and watch as she signs her name behind the commonly known 'X' signature listing.
