We all stand in a tight formation, none of us daring to move. If we do, Officer Aura will make us go through our whole training exercise for the day again. An exercise training period of running up the mountain trail, our guns in our arms, marching around a twenty mile track, fighting other Cadets with fencing swords, then shooting at targets, and boxing. We do this six hours a day, seven days a week.
It's the sixth month, and I still haven't been alone with Jacob to tell him that I remember him. The only thing I've done is talked to Leslie, and train. I learn that Leslie is from a city named California. A city that use to thrive on the lust of entertainment, but now one of the most devastated cities hit by the lasting aftereffects of the Terra Apocalypse, leaving them in poverty. Leslie had a family of six. - Only her aunt to take care of her and her five brothers. They all died from the last wave of an unknown plague that took them away before vaccinations were even made. When she told me this on our third night at Camp One, I grew quiet in the dark of our dorm, and bit my lip.
Anything I've done before going to Camp One, I have not been able to do. I have not even gotten a chance to vid-chat my family. I force myself to get over it. Because if I don't, they may not live either. No one of the North will.
