(At The Concert)
"How's everybody doing tonight?" I asked the crowd.
Wow I never expected this much of a turn out. This is exactly what I need right now, after everything that happened at the bowling alley. After singing some of our songs off our new album, all my troubles seemed to melt away. That is, until I saw John bring the girl he's cheating on Jo with and it makes me sick to my stomach.
I went over to my piano bench and sat down.
"You know, usually I don't have anything to say before performing this next song, but this time I felt like it's necessary."
I look out into the crowd and John stops kissing the redhead and has his sights set on me.
"So it seems I've gotten your attention now?" I smirked and I hear the crowd go wild.
The redhead stares at me in shock.
"Anyways, this next song is for anybody who's in a relationship or who has been in a relationship where the person you really cared about has done you wrong." I said into the mic.
I turned back to the piano and started playing our first hit. This ought to be good.
"I'm holding on your top got me ten feet off the ground
And I'm hearing what you say but I just can't make a sound... Noooo
You tell me that you need me
Then you go and cut me down, but wait....
Tell me that you're sorry
Didn't think I'd turn around
And say...
That it's too late to apologize...
It's too late...
I said it's too late to apologize...
It's too late..."
I looked straight at John and his "girlfriend" as the crowd sang along. I see her say something to him and he says something back.
"I'd take another chance, take a fall, take a shot for you...
"Oh and I need you like a heart needs a beat
But that's nothing new... Yeah, yeah."
My piano turns from red to blue as I sang,
"I loved you with a fire red...
Now it's turning blue, and you say...
Sorry like the angel, heaven let me think was you...
But I'm afraid....
It's too late to apologize...
It's too late...
I said it's too late to apologize...
It's too late...
I said it's too late apologize.... Yeah
Said it's too late to apologize.... Yeah
I'm holding on your rope got me ten feel off.... The ground..."
The crowd goes crazy as I wiped the sweat off my forehead with my black t-shirt. I look backstage and I see Jo, smiling and giving me a thumbs up. I ignored her and continued with the concert. It killed me when she said I meant nothing to her. We've been best friends for almost ten years and she's going to toss me to the side like that?
I mean, how would she like it if I did that to her. She would absolutely hate it.
We finally finished the concert and went backstage.
