Professor Maple's bright face peered down at me.
"Well well! I've absolutely never seen anyone transform so quickly as you did! Congratulations!" he exclaimed. I stared at him, trying to read his thoughts, but drew ablank. His loud laugh filled the room, and he shook his head. "Wouldn't you think that after spending my years with psychic type Pokemon, I would be immune to their mind reading abilities? Ha ha!"
Well now, how do I turn back? I tried to telepathically tell him.
"You turn back the same way you turned into one!" he answered. I tried to meditate and clear my mind, but it wasn't helping that everyone was staring at me.
Would you all just STOP! STARING! I shouted crossly in my mind, and all the kids turned away, shocked. I'm sure I must've looked bright red. I didn't mean to outburst like that.
After concentrating for a while, I finally turned back into my normal human self. Everyone seemed afraid of me, keeping their backs turned and whispering to each other now that I couldn't read their minds. Oh great, now I'm a topic of gossip. Two girls didn't seem to mind, though. Galvantula girl and the one with the yellow nose.
"How did you do it?" Yellow Nose asked, eyes wide.
"Yeah. What was it like?" Galvantula agreed coolly. I smiled.
"Well, I just cleared my mind and willed myself. And I...can't really explain being Espeon, but it was amazing." We talked for hours until the truck reached a final stop. Professor Maple told us to get out of the van. We had stopped just outside of a forest, and a sparkling, crystal blue lake was in front of us. It was surrounded by cabins, three on either side and one larger building in the back.
"Welcome to camp, Gens," Professor Maple said, gesturing to the lake and cabins. A spark of lightning struck down to one if the fields surrounding the area, and water type Pokemon played in the lake. A woman appeared at Professor Maple's side, her dark blonde hair in a messy bun. She wore a green long sleeved shirt and yoga pants.
"Welcome Gens! I will be your camp director. Of course, each group of you will have a group leader that will lead your class, but those will be assigned later," she chirped cheerfully.
"Destiny, will you bring them to the cave?" Professor Maple instructed, and the woman lead us to a small steel platform on the ground. When all of us were on it, it slowly descended underground. We landed in a dark tunnel with stone walls and laterns for lights. She lead us through the tunnels, and I realized we were underneath the lake. Finally, we reached a large room where a whole bunch of kids sat at wooden picnic tables, eating what I presumed to be their dinner, bacause it was around 6:30. Seeing them eat reminded me of how hungry I was.
"This is the eating hall. You guys can eat first, then will be the presentation," Destiny explained before heading to a cafeteria-style food line. We all headed that way and got food for ourselves. It didn't even look that bad, and I got myself a brownie before sitting next to Galvantula and Yellow Nose (who I still don't know the names of).
"I'm Georgia, by the way," Galvantula (or should I say Georgia) explained, reading my thoughts.
"Oh, and I'm Pennyweather, but just call me Pen," Yellow Nose added.
"Well, I'm Emerald."
"I think I'll call you Emmy," Georgia said, scrubbing her chin. We all laughed at the nickname.
Suddenly, a voice projected by microphine exclaimed, "May I have your attention please?" Everyone stopped eating and looked up at a small stage, where Destiny was standing. A white canvas projector screen was behind her, and as she stepped off the stage, images began to play on it.
"Welcome to Camp!" it displayed. "Things may be confusing, but we'll explain as best as we can. When all of you were babies, you were taken to a lab. In the lab, our scientists added a Pokemon whose first initial matches yours genes to your own. This caused you to grow up to become a Gen, who can change into that Pokemon. A month after you turned thirteen, you were given a mark and brought here. It may take a while to have your abilities, but you'll get there. Now let's explain how things work here. You will be continuing school work with regular school days and Gen classes in the evening. There are nine classes: three girl classes and three boy classes. First level is honor roll, second level is average, and third class is for less than average students. You will live in a cabin with your class. Good luck and good night, Gens!" It then displayed a list of who was in what class, and where that class's cabin was. I was excited to read that Georgia, Pen, and I were in first level together.
There were only nine names on the board, because only nine students had just arrived. Three for each level. Our cabin was on the left closest to the large building that was a school. The Gens filed out of the eating hall and dispersed to their cabins. As soon as I got to my bunk above Georgia, I fell right to sleep.
