Author's Note~
Hey so I know a lot of you don’t know too much about Pokemon, so I thought I’d explain a few things. The battle in this chapter shouldn’t be too confusing, but I’ll explain some Pokémon’s.
Espeon – a purple cat with psychic abilities. Look at my profile pic and the book cover.
Galvantula – yellow spider with electric/bug abilities
Piplup – if you don’t know what this is I’m ashamed. Blue penguin with water abilities
Squirtle – same as above. Blue turtle with water abilities
Meloetta – Black Pokemon that looks like a stick figure with teal hair that’s got a staff pattern with psychic abilities that can change to have fighting abilities
If you have any questions, ask, but I’ll try to make it as least confusing as possible. You can also google the names of the Pokemon to see a pic. Read on, friends.

A bright star hit me in the side of the head. Melody must’ve used Swift, which never misses. My head started pounding as a melodious song filled the air. The beautiful melody filled my mind as I drifted off into a dreamless sleep.
“Emmy! Emmy!” a crowd started to chant. Whoa, this must be a dream. I lazily opened my eyes to realize that I was still battling with Meadow, her black figure standing right in front of me. A crowd surrounded us. It seemed as if the whole camp has stopped to watch our battle.
I jumped up, my body suddenly alert. A slight breeze tugged at the sensitive fur on my face as I saw Meadow spinning into her Pirouette form. But that hadn’t even happened yet! I had just seen the future! I shook myself back to reality and saw her spin, her teal hair turning orange. So this is what she meant by going easy on me. By transforming into Pirouette form, she was changing her type from psychic to fighting. As a psychic type, we were evenly matched, but if she was fighting, I had the upper hand.
Coming to my senses, I concentrated on using Psychic on Meadow. Slowly, she drifted into the air. As I got more confident, I was able to send her flying up into the air and then crashing down into the ground. Leaping with joy, I took advantage of her vulnerability and sent a Psyshock. Her small, oval shaped hands rose to her head as she shook because of the mental pain. Finally, I sent out a Swift, just as she had to me at the beginning of the battle. As the last white star crashed into her, her eyes went all swirly in the signature sign of the end of the battle.
“Meadow is unable to battle! The battle goes to Emerald!” Joe yelled. The crowd broke into cheers. I just stood in disbelief, not able to believe that I had just won a battle. Georgia and Pen rushed over to me, followed by Summer. Meadow transformed back to her normal self and walked back to me.
“You won! Holy s*** you won!” Georgia cheered in disbelief.
“Change back! Oh my Arceus Emmy!” Pen called. I transformed back into myself.
“Well I had a little help,” I said, looking at Meadow. “Thanks.”
“No problem, Em,” she replied.
“No rookie has ever won their first battle with a seasoned Gen. You’re a legend!” Summer stated. I smiled sheepishly. I can’t believe that happened!
The sun had started to set, and the instructors called that it was time for dinner. We went down to the eating hall and ate, and wherever I went people were high-fiving me and cheering my name. It was all a little overwhelming. Finally it was time to go back to our cabins.
“We should play some games and get to know each other better,” Summer suggested, and soon she, Meadow, Pen, Georgia and I were sitting in a circle on the floor, laughing hysterically at something I said. One of the other girls was sitting on her bunk reading and the other three were gossiping and occasionally glaring at us.
“And your name will be Potato!” I said, placing the blue figure in my car. “Now I’m a single father of four!” We were playing Life, and I had started out the game as a guy. Everyone burst out laughing again at my choice of name for the new baby boy in my car.
The next day was the same, other than for Psychic training I helped people figure out how to transform. Joe told me that soon I’d be battling regularly as a part of training and getting used to being an Espeon.
But the morning was different. The early morning was way different.
An electric shock surged through my body and jolted me awake.
