You kissed the petals
On my skin
And promised
That you
Would take care of
My roses
That were planted
Behind your
2-bedroom apartment
Because there wasn't
Enough room
Inside for me
I was dependent
On your infrequent
Sporadic
Watering
Dependent
On the
Non consecutive seasons
You chose to love me in
I withered away
During the winter that you left
But eventually
Spring came
And this time,
I was not your garden
But instead
I became a forest
That grew taller
Than the green house
You used to lock me in
I am not
Temporary,
Part time or
Something you can
Care for
When it is convenient
For you
You can not
Love me when
I bloom
And leave me
When I do not
I deserve
More
And
Without you
To borrow the sunlight
From my eyes
Without you to
Guard my soil
Without you to
Shade my leaves
Without you to
Water the flowers
In my veins
Or shield the fragile bones
Of my tree limbs
Love me
Lose me
Leave me
And
I
Will
Still
Grow
