Kun's POV
I finally reached. I was nervous. My heart was beating so loudly that I was almost sure even Ail could hear it.Seeing me nervous, Ail asked, "What is the matter Kun? Are you alright?"
I nodded.
It was now or never. So I asked, "Um. Can I um. Ask you something?"
She replied "Sure. Since when did you start taking permission? You are making me nervous."
I finally managed to say, "I want to say that will you.."
I was cut off by Ak and Mil. They had to choose that very moment and enter.
"What are you doing here?" Mil asked.
"Why? Aren't we allowed to sit here?" I asked.
"No. I mean let's go inside." Mil said.
Before I could say anything, Ail blurted out "Kun wanted to say something. Let's hear him first."
Darn, I was in an awkward position. I felt too shy to say it in front of them. What was happening to me? Me and shy? "You are a playboy" I reminded myself.
Mil and Ak seemed to have noticed my uneasiness so Ak said "If it is something private than we will leave." With a giggle.
"It is not what you are thinking." Ail said blushing. But they had already left and I was really really thankful for that.
"You look pretty while blushing." I said that aloud. Sh*t. It wasn't meant to be said aloud.
"I wasn't blushing Kunsang Tamang. By the way, what were you saying." She said, changing the topic instantly.
"Um. I was saying that. Um. The thing is. Um. Will you um. Let's go for a walk together. Just the two of us." I managed to say. I couldn't even look at her in the eye. That was pretty bad. The 'just the two of us' made it sound creepy.
Opposite to what I had expected, Ail just smiled at me and said, "I would love to."
So we headed out.
She came out. Her brown eyes, the strand of hair falling on her face, her dimples, her pinkish cheeks and rosy lips. She looked pretty.
Darn! What was I thinking? 'She is just a friend' I reminded myself.
So we walked along the park. Although it was evening, there weren't much people out there. There was a eerie silence between us. She was just so close but yet so far.
"What do you like to eat?" I said, breaking the silence. I just wanted to know about her.
"I like chocolates. And french fries, pizza, burger and other fast food. Home cooked food is also tasty. What about you?" She enquired.
"All the food in the world that is tasty. Everything except vegetables, I must aďd." I said.
"You're picky." She said.
"It is called choosing tye best among all." I said.
She returned a smile. "What about your favoraite colour? Mine is blue."
"Mine is. Um. I like dark red." I said.
"Bike or car?" She asked.
"Both. And you?" I asked.
"If it is driving then car and if it is going on a ride then a bike, although I am a bit afraid." She said.
There was a cotton candy selling man nearby. So I suggested, "Let's have some cotton candy."
"Do you like them?" She asked.
"Yes. Why? You don't like them?" I asked.
"No. I love them. It is just that usually boys don't go for such things." Ail said.
"I am not just everybody." I replied.
So we went to get the cotton candy.
As we were eating the cotton candy, I got to know a lot about her and she also asked a lot about me.
I was just happy.
I don't know why but being around her made me happy. Her smile, those dimples, her laugh, everything of her made me happy.
"Let's go watch the sunset." I suggested.
"Yes. I just love the sunset." She smiled.
So we went and sat down. The birds were singing and the sun was slowly sinking down. I was there with her, watching the sunset. The sky was turning yellow and everything was quiet. A strong breeze was blowing and everything was just so peaceful.
"It's wonderful, isn't it?" She asked.
"Yes it is. Really very very pretty." But I wasn't watching the sunset, I was watching her.
And there I realized that I loved her.
I had fallen for her.
As we were walking back, it was already dark. No one was on the road.
"Kunsang, today my life looks so simple right?" Ail said.
"Why? What happened?" I questioned.
She said "I am so happy nowadays. But I fear everything. I fear loosing this happiness. I am afraid. I did get happy once but only to get shattered. I feel so happy until I find out that everything is just an illusion. I fear that my life and all my happiness will just turn out to be illusion."
"Shhhh." I cut her off. "You are wrong. You are so happy right now and it isn't an illusion. Maybe it is the darkness but darkness is a boon. Light is a curse. Light makes everything just so beautiful that it hides darkness of the ugly and beauty of the beautiful. In the darkness, everything comes back to reality. Remember, the stars, they would never be able to shine without darkness. Darkness is truly beautiful. Cause the stars don't shine in the darkness but they shine along with the darkness. If the darkness never existed, we would never have known about the stars and their beauty would have been lost. Lost, among the light. So remember. You are a star, so you even shine not in the darkness but along with the darkness."
After that, I pulled her into a deep hug and tears slipped down her face. I let her cry. It could give her peace.
And then I stood there with her crying peacefully, in my arms. She clutched me and I soothed her hair. It felt warm and comfortable. It was like I had someone to protect, to care, to hold hands, to cry and to love. She could probably hear my heartbeat, of my heart that beats for her and only her.
