Ashton sighed softly to himself after his third try of getting the engine back on track. Every time he would press down on the clutch pedal while turning the key in the ignition a loud sound of buzzing would appear followed by the power going out in the car again.
He furrowed his eyebrows confused in attempt of doing it one more time but when realizing that there literally wasn't any hope of starting the car again he headed out to take a look at the engine.
Not that he was that aware of cars. He only remembered a few stuff from when studying for his driver's license but that was also it. He never expected that the car would actually break down right in the middle of driving and having to push it into the side like seeing on videos when learning about traffic accidents.
His eyes glanced over at you for a short moment as if he was having control of the whole situation. You were walking around a bit further away from where he had parked your car, continuing trying to call someone without luck.
"Nobody's answering?" He yelled carefully but you only turned your back to him and mumbled something that he didn't quite catch up with.
Another deep sigh escaped his lips when turning his gaze back to the engine. He couldn't understand what was going on because it had been working all day. The gas was filled to the top, he had done it at the gas station earlier in the noon and you hadn't been driving for long.
It was a good thing it wasn't as cold as he had expected around midnight. It wasn't windy down by the ocean and if he listened carefully and blocked out the sounds of cars driving on the bridge he could hear the waves crash ashore.
Maybe if he pretended that he knew what he was doing the process would go faster and hopefully you would come back and tell that somebody like Calum would show up. Not that Calum had more knowledge about cars than Ash did but at least he could pick you up and get you home.
"Nobody is answering their phone and the boys are clubbing tonight. There's a craft company who can be here in an hour but at that time we'll probably already have a solution. So I guess we're stuck here until you find out what is wrong with the car."
He could tell by the way you were looking at him and the way your tone was that you expected he knew what he was doing. His gaze went down to the engine again, touching around on a few things and got oil on his fingers clumsily.
"Yeah, yeah totally," He breathed with furrowed eyebrows and took a look down again. "We just gotta find where the source is to the sudden reason why we can't drive or even start the engine and when we do that we'll be able to start the car again..."
He trailed off the last part while looking over at you unsure, puckering his lips afterwards with wide eyes when you placed a hand to your hip.
"You have no idea what is going on, do you?"
"Not the slightest." He responded back quickly, taking one last look down at the engine before deciding to shut the front down completely. He knew that even if he stared at it, it wouldn't fix itself and he wouldn't find the conclusion to it before professionals would show up.
You leaned your back against it when he had done so, crossed your arms and at the view. The city lights were brighter than ever, showing that even if it was a lazy Friday night for you everyone else was wide awake. It was uncommon that you would find a small square of a window that was dark and out of light.
"You know if we had a truck we could have watched the stars." You admitted after thinking and looked up at the sky. You weren't able to see as much as if you would have been at the outskirts but this was okay too. The moon was shining bright.
