**WARNING**
This is a sad one, get ya tissues out and cue the tears 😭😭
The picture frame may have collected dust over the last few years, but the memories in Ashton's mind did not. Not a day went by where he wasn't thinking about Y/N, missing her so much it caused a painful ache in his heart. Ashton's thumb ran over the dusty glass, cleaning the space over Y/N's face. He choked back a sob, dropping the frame back on the kitchen table and covering his mouth. His eyes screwed shut. Today would have been our seven year wedding anniversary.
Ashton knew it's been five years since the incident, and that Y/N would have wanted him to move on by now, but it was impossible. Y/N stole Ashton's heart the moment he laid eyes on her and when she left, she took it with him. Ashton never took off his wedding ring, and he never had the intention to. He didn't want to marry anybody else.
Ashton stood up from the table, wiping his teary eyes with the sleeves of his sweater before heading for the counter. He grabbed his keys off of the dish and walked out the front door, slamming it shut behind him. Ashton locked the door and went to his car, driving to the all too familiar place he had in mind.
He arrived at a large iron arch surrounded by massive oak trees. The cemetery.
Ashton followed the same gravel path he walked down for the last five years, stopping at a large gravestone made out of black granite. It was Y/N's gravestone.
"Hey, love," Ashton whispered, crouching down and sitting before the tomb. "It would've been seven years today. Can you believe that?" Silence. Ashton sighed.
"I still love you. I haven't taken the ring off, and I know you're probably up there rolling your eyes at me right now, but this ring is what's keeping me sane right now. I know it's been five years, but I'm still in denial that you're gone. I tell myself that this is all just a joke, and that you're gonna come home and I'm gonna be able to hold you again. Fuck, I wish I could hold you again, baby. It's not the same down here without you. I miss you so much." Ashton broke into sobs again, his body crumpling against the hard, dead grass.
The sky started changing colors and Ashton knew time was slipping away from him.
"I hope you're getting treated well, baby. I miss you. I love you," Ashton sniffled, wiping his eyes before standing up from the ground. His limbs were aching. He took a final look down at Y/N's tombstone.
Y/N Y/L/N, the sweetest angel Heaven's leant to us. Gone too soon.
When Ashton got home, he sat back down at the kitchen table, holding the same dusty picture in his hands. He sucked in a deep breath and wiped the picture off entirely, revealing it in its entirety.
The picture was of Y/N laying on the couch, Ashton next to her with his lips pressed to her pregnant stomach. Their baby came out stillborn, which was what caused Y/N to take her own life.
