I could feel drool making a small puddle on my shoulder as Evelyn slept across my chest. Her little mouth was wide open as snores left her tiny sleeping form. After the morning at the park and cafe, she was wiped out and fell asleep as soon as I sat down long enough with her.We were sitting in Jasper's fitting room and right now Hanna was fussing over his hair that wasn't quite spiking like she wanted it to. Her boyfriend was sitting in a chair next to Jasper and it was nice to see him making small talk after being so reserved in LA a few weeks ago. Sawyer was waiting for her turn, but as she waited she sat on the couch with me and we talked about babies for the most part, as she was nervous about everything since this would be her first baby. Lastly, Levi and Bode were sitting at a small table in the corner of the room and they spoke quietly between each other with their heads bent forward.
"So I was wondering what theme you chose for Evie's nursery." She told me with a grin as she pulled one leg up and tucked it under her opposite knee.
"It was very simple, I didn't want to spend too much money. But I kept her walls white, because my landlord didn't allow me to paint, and had white furniture. I had pink and gray accents that worked well together. It wasn't too extravagant or anything. Her room now is so sweet though, I love it." I told her with a grin as I slyly tried to adjust Evelyn so she wouldn't wake up.
"Oh what is it now?" She inquired, brushing a piece of hair behind her ear.
"We still went with the gray and pink, but the walls are charcoal color and the curtains are big, billowy, and striped with white and pink. She has a little chandelier and a pink rug that takes up the better part of her floor." I pointed to my phone on the table and she grabbed it for me as I didn't want to move and wake up Evelyn. I scrolled through my pictures until I found the one of the her new nursery.
"Aw I love it." She cooed, zooming in and looking around. "I think if I were having a boy, I would've done nautical and I still like that theme, but I'm not sure. I also like the idea of just a simple, modern nursery too. Do you think I could still pull of nautical with a girl?" She looked torn as I pursed my lips in thought.
"I don't know, nautical is pretty cute for both genders." I agreed with an indecisive shrug. I could picture sweet little anchors and navy stripes for walls.
"Babe, is Evie ok? Do you want me to take her?" Jasper asked, startling me as I didn't realize he had moved closer and was now standing in front of me.
"No, you need to get ready." I told him while laughing lightly. "She's a sleepy little one right now so I think she's alright."
"Ok." He replied, even though he sounded unsure of my response. He planted a quick kiss to her forehead and returned to where Hanna was waiting impatiently for him at his seat.
She scolded him jokingly as she applied another layer of gel to his already slick hair.
"I think Jasper's hair could stand up and walk away on its own with all that gel she used." Sawyer laughed to herself as I grinned in Jasper's direction.
I watched quietly as everyone bustled about and Sawyer eventually left me to work on some of Jasper's finishing touches. I was content though, just to sit here with Evelyn and hold her as she slept soundly.
"You guys ok?" Jasper asked again, quickly sitting down and staring at Evelyn's sweet face with nothing but admiration on his.
"Yeah, I kinda need to wake her up so she sleeps well tonight, but I don't want to." I pouted lightly knowing that Evelyn would turn into a little crab if I woke her up before she was ready.
"It's ok, let her sleep, I'll entertain her all night if you want me to." I rolled my eyes a little and laughed as the look on his face told me he was serious.
