When I woke up the next morning the house was suspiciously quiet, I couldn't hear Evelyn babbling or Jasper singing obnoxiously.
I sat up with ruffled bed hair and looked around Jaspers room. He had pictures of us from when we were younger and a few frames had pictures of Evelyn that I had brought from my apartment.
I sighed heavily and threw the covers back revealing my bare legs and plain shirt that I stole from Jasper. I still couldn't hear anything except for my naked feet slowly making their way across the hard wood floor.
"Jasper?" I called out, walking into the open family room. It connected to the kitchen so I was able to peer around the corner, only to come up empty.
I rolled my eyes and pulled my phone off the charger, clicking on Twitter I saw that Jasper was tweeting new pictures of Evelyn as they walked down downtown LA.
I glanced over at the clock and I thought my jaw would hit the floor when I realized it was almost noon. I hadn't slept in this long since Evelyn was born.
I started calling Jasper to see if he would be home soon so I wouldn't be so lonely and I thought he wouldn't pick up, but he did on the last ring.
"Hello?" He always sounded so breathless like he had just ran a marathon.
"Where are you Jazzy?" I asked with a laugh. "I like the pictures of Evie though."
"Thanks babe, we're just putting around. I wanted you to get some sleep!" He was such a genuinely caring person that I grinned at his words and sunk onto the comfortable couch.
"Okay, well come home soon. I miss you guys." I was lonely and I could feel the boredom creeping up on me already.
"I'll be home in twenty. I told Ben to meet me at two so I think he's gonna come over. Will you help me make lunch? I want to invite everyone else over. Like the hairstylist ya know?" He was rambling and I was giggling at this point. "I don't want them here at the same time as Ben though, that's business."
He had shot himself into Jasper Dean mode where he was the singer and business man, not daddy, friend, and lover.
"Alright, we can figure it out. Just bring my baby home in one piece." I demanded jokingly with a hint of humor in my words.
"Our baby, babe." He laughed at his own joke and hung up. I dropped my phone into my lap and reached for the remote, flicking through channels. They were all different than Seattle's so I just settled on the cooking network.
I was watching rather intently when the door was thrown open and Jasper came charging in with a hysterically laughing Evelyn raised above his head.
"Coming in hot!" He shouted with a care free laugh, lowering Evelyn down so I could grab her from my spot on the couch.
"Good lord." I mumbled, peppering kisses across her face and smothering her stomach in raspberries. "How was your morning?"
"We had a great time! We stopped by the convenience store and grabbed some bread then we went back to the park and fed the ducks. She thought it was the best thing ever." He is such a genuinely happy person that he looked like an excited puppy.
"You had a good time with da?" I ask leaning down to kiss Evelyn again. Jasper had tried to do a little ponytail but it was lopsided, hanging more on the right side of her head, but it was still adorable. "She looks good Jazz."
"Thanks! I think you're gentler though, she just squirmed the whole time so it's a little crooked." He shrugged before kicking off his shoes and collapsing next to us on the couch.
