Today was the last day I would see my little Seattle apartment for at least half a year. Jasper and I were done cleaning everything and it was going to be rented out to someone else as soon as I left. I was a little nostalgic as I closed the door one last time because this was where I had raised Eve and this was the first place I had lived on my own.
"Are you okay?" Jasper asked, touching my arm gently as Evelyn napped on his shoulder. We were standing in the elevator and were steadily going down.
"Yeah, I'm ready to start a new chapter of my life." I decided happily, I had to put everything else behind me.
"Good, I can't wait for you to meet all my friends down south!" He laughed a little and I grinned at his genuine personality.
"You'll have to tell me about them on the plane ride." I bargained as we began climbing into the car. Jasper had rented it at the airport so he was going to return it before we got on our plane. It was convenient that Eve still had to be in a carrier because I could just strap that into the car.
It was raining again and the sound of it hitting the ceiling was comforting as I relaxed into the seat and watched Evelyn's wide eyed gaze around the car. She had woken up when we began putting her in the car seat, trying to throw a tantrum.
As we pulled up to the airport I could see how crowded it already was, making me anxious to see what the inside held.
I gently took Evelyn from her car seat and Jasper carried it inside, handing the keys to someone at the rental desk as we passed. Evelyn looked around nervously as people were packed on either side of us. She had a large bow on her head that was sinking into her eye sight and I gently pushed it back up and she giggled at me.
With Jasper's free hand, he held onto my waist securely. Guiding me to security, Jasper helped us dodge the crowds but I'm pretty sure people were beginning to realize who he was.
As we approached security, he had to let go of me and begin to empty his pockets and take off his shoes. One of the officers took the seat out of his hand as I began taking my shoes off. I was smart to just put Eve in socks so I didn't have to worry about stripping her down too.
I put everything in one of the baskets and stepped through the metal detector, sighing in relief when it didn't go off. I slipped my shoes back on and gathered my purse, waiting for Jasper to finish.
When he was done, they handed him the car seat back and we began walking to where our flight would be taking off from. Thankfully, it was almost time to board. We sat in the waiting area and people were beginning to point to us and gather around in a fifteen foot radius.
"Jazz, can I have one of her toys?" I asked quietly, trying to hold the squirming baby. Evelyn was growing impatient and staring at me with her brows furrowed in irritation. He reached into her carrier and unstrapped a little frog that was hanging from the handle.
"Here ya are lovie, be good please." He kissed her forehead and she reached for the toy with eager hands, immediately shoving it in her mouth with a satisfied grin.
"First class for flight 225 to Los Angeles, now boarding in terminal three, flight 225, now boarding." A voice droned from above us and Jasper quickly stood up and grabbed our carry ons while I gathered Eve.
"Here we go! Evie's first flight!" I cheered, raising her chubby arm above her head.
"I hope she does alright." Jasper voice in a concerned manner.
"Shes a little princess and will most likely fall asleep." I laughed a little with Jasper as we showed the boarding assistant our tickets and she ushered us on.
