"So I was right, right?" Jensen asked, tugging my sweatshirt sleeve as I stood in the kitchen. I was making lunch for Evelyn before her nap while the boys hung out across the hall.
I turned my attention towards her and rolled my eyes, a small blush covering my cheeks.
"Yes, you were right." I murmured, turning away as she threw her arms around my shoulders and squealed happily. I turned and hugged her back, my heart beating happily.
"I can't believe it, I'm so happy for you. I can't believe it." She repeated as I laughed and she pulled away, looking me up and down.
"You're not going to see anything yet." I laughed, hugging her tightly one last time before I turned back to the stove and flipped the grilled cheese.
"Who else knows?" She asked, stepping closer so we were nearly shoulder to shoulder.
"Uhm, Jasper and Evelyn." I admitted, the ghost of a grin dancing across my lips.
"That's it? I'm the first person you told? Oh my gosh, can we tell Kai?" She was pacing now, jittery with excitement.
"Yeah we can tell Kai." I giggled again as I slid the sandwich on a plate to cool. "Do you want to go get him?" I offered.
"Yes I will be right back, don't go anywhere!" I watched in confusion as she danced out the front door, the wood slamming loudly in the frame. Where would I go?
Evelyn looked up at the sound of the door slamming and stood from her spot by the coffee table. She was very intently playing with small horses that I had bought when she was a newborn, saving them for when she was older. She loved the small figurines now and it was so sweet how she sat for long periods of time playing with them.
"Are you hungry? Do you want lunch?" I asked as she toddled over and held her arms up for me to lift her.
"Foo." She nodded, trying to pronounce food. She was getting better everyday at vocalizing what she wanted. Sometimes Jasper and I had a hard time trying to figure out what she wanted, but most of the time it wasn't bad.
"Yeah, food, do you want a sandwich?" I asked, continuing to talk to her so she could begin understanding what I was asking. I sat her in her highchair and strung a bib across her chest to catch any loose crumbs that may fall while she ate.
Just as I sat the grilled cheese on her plate, cut into small pieces, our door flew open again. Evelyn jumped in surprise and pushed out her lower lip, but I quickly stroked her cheek before turning to see Jensen rushing the boys into our apartment.
"Did you tell her?" Jasper asked, his eyes lit with amusement and his cheeks rosy. He looked so beautiful, as always, but the genuine happiness that he's had around him the past few days have taken my breath away.
"Yeah, how'd you know?" I asked, walking over to wrap an arm around his waist. I laid my head on his shoulder and sighed contently. Jasper strung an arm around my shoulder and squeezed tight.
"What's the news?" Kai asked, looking between his girlfriend and us.
"Tell him." Jensen urged before we even got a chance to speak.
I rolled my eyes before looking at Jasper fondly who was already glancing at me. He turned away and smiled at his friend. "We're expecting another baby."
Kai's jaw slacked a little as he glanced from Jasper and I for a moment.
"Congratulations." He cheered suddenly, a smile breaking across his face as he reached forward to hug Jasper and then switching to hug me. "That's amazing guys, Evelyn's going to be such a good big sister!"
