A/N: SORRY I HAVEN'T UPDATED IN AGES I'M SUCH A BAD PERSON!

---------------------------------------------

After Alec had walked away from the group, he found himself at Magnus' place. A circle member was attacking him so Alec held his bow and quiver in place and shot. It hit him in the leg. Magnus blasted the circle member with his magic.
      "Well done." Alec said.
"More like medium-rare." Magnus turned around and realised it was Alec. "Im Magnus." He walked towards Alec. "I don't think we've been formally introduced." He smiled.
"Alec." Alec smiled. "Oh, uh. We should really. You know, probably get..." Alec stuttered.
"Right, we should join the party." Magnus said.
"Right." Alec said and walked away. Magnus followed but looked back at the dead circle member.
"This fight's far from over." He said before walking out.

Magnus had gone back to his lair and the group found him.
"Magnus." Clary said and walked over to Magnus with the little girl.
"Go join the others, my dear." He said to the little girl. "This is no place for a little girl." The little girl walked away.
"I heard what you did for Zoe." Magnus said to Clary. "You risked your life without hesitation to save a young warlock child."
"She was just a girl and she was in trouble. I had no choice." Clary replied.
"You always have a choice." Magnus told her. "You're not like the others, Clary Fairchild. Most Shadowhunters protect Downworlders out of sense of duty, but you saved young Zoe because of what was inside your heart. You're more like your mother than you will ever know."
"Magnus, please you can't hide from this battle." Clary said. "Look, Valentine, he found you once, he will find you again. We need to work together. Help me."
"I can summon the demon, but you must make the demand." Magnus told her. "Now, I warn you retrieving your memories will not be easy."
"I will do what I have to do."
"All right. But we're not safe here. The lair's location has been compromised. Hold tight, everyone, we're about to move." And then Magnus got to work and moved the location of the lair.
"Ah much better." Magnus said. "Ugh, it's inevitable. After each move, I get the itch to redecorate. Normally, I love a dirty lair, but this is one is just sloppy." Magnus put his foot on a table to make it stand up again and eyed Alec.
"Ok, so how do we summon the memory demon?" Clary asked.
"Are you certain? Summoning such a powerful demon could be lethal." Magnus replied.
"I'll do anything to save my mother. Where is the demon?" Clary replied.
"Okay. Pretty boy, get your team ready." Magnus said.
"You know what to do." Jace said to the group.
"I'm not talking to you." Magnus said to Jace. "I'm talking to him." He pointed at Alec. Alec smiled a little and then when Jace looked at him, shrugged his shoulders.
"Come with me." Magnus said to Clary and she followed him into a room. "Everyone wants the Mortal Cup. Don't trust anyone, especially not the Clave." He said.
"Then why should I trust you?" Clary questioned.
"You shouldn't. Only trust yourself." Magnus replied and handed her some chalks.
"These chalks are beautiful." Clary said. "What are they for?"
"If a person wants their memories returned, they must draw the pentagram to summon the demon." Magnus hands her a picture of the pentagram. "I can walk you through it, if you like."
"I got this." Clary told him.
"Shadowhunter prepare Clary as best you can." Magnus said to Jace and walked out of the room.
"The memory demon is a Greater Demon. The rune will be far more powerful than anything you've faced so far." Jace explained.
      "Do it." Clary said.
"This might sting." Jace told her as he got out his stele. Clary screamed as the rune burned into her skin.

The group joined Clary in the room once she had finished drawing the pentagram.
"Jocelyn was right, your artistry is beyond compare." Magnus said.
"I don't know about that." Clary replied.
"Oh, the only other person I've known who could draw as well was Michelangelo, who was excellent in bed, I might add." Magnus said and looked at Alec. Alec looked a little creeped out. "Ok. We're ready. Everyone take your rightful place on the pentagram." Magnus said.
"We'll just stand over here." Amelia said and her and Evie walked over to a corner so that they were out of the way.
"Yeah you two can talk and bond." Jace said.
"Wow. Another one of your amazing ideas." Amelia said sarcastically.
"I know right." Jace smiled cheekily before him, Clary, Magnus, Izzy and Alec stood around the pentagram, each of them at a point on the pentagram.
"He hasn't changed." Evie said to Amelia.
"What do you mean?" Amelia asked.
"Jace." Evie replied. "He's still really sarcastic." She laughed and Amelia laughed with her. They stopped talking when Magnus started talking.
"We must initiate a bond." Magnus said whilst rolling up his sleeves. "Once this bond is sealed, it cannot be broken until the demon retreats. No matter what happens, we must not let go of each other's hands." Magnus held out his hand to Alec and Alec took hold of it. Then Alec held out his hand to Jace and Jace took hold of it. Jace held out his hand to Clary and Clary took hold of it. They all hesitated before holding their hands out to each other and every time one of them held hands, they looked a little shocked. Clary held out her hand to Izzy.
"You people are pathetic." Izzy laughed before taking Clary's hand and holding her hand out to Magnus who took hold of it.
"I will lead the ceremony, and you all must do exactly as I say. The demon's name is Valak. And at some point, he will ask for payment in exchange for Clary's memories." Magnus explained.
"What do you mean? What kind of payment?" Jace questioned.
"We will see." Magnus replied. "Let us begin." Magnus started saying words in a language they didn't understand.
"What is he saying?" Evie asked Amelia.
"I have no idea." Amelia laughed.
All of a sudden, black smoke came down from above them and they all looked up.
"Woah." Amelia and Evie said at the same time.
The black smoke was now in the middle of the pentagram.
"Valak is among us. Do not break the bond." Magnus shouted over the sound of the demon. It was like a big gust of wind in the room. "It is time. The demon demands payment."
"What does it want?" Alec shouted over the noise.
"We must each relinquish a beloved memory of the one we love the most." Magnus replied.
Izzy's memory was pulled out of her heart first and in the smoke of the demon, was an image of Alec smiling. Clary was next and there was an image of Jocelyn, her mother. Then Alec was after and the image was of Jace. Amelia's breath caught in her throat. She knew that Alec had feelings for Jace but he had never admitted it. Jace looked at Alec.
"No, it's not true! The demon deceived me!" Alec shouted.
"Alec, don't worry about it, it's ok!" Amelia shouted to him.
"Do not break the bond!" Magnus shouted.
"Alec, it's okay!" Izzy tried to tell him but he just panicked.
"No!" Alec shouted and let go of Jace's hand.
      "Alec!" Jace shouted.
They all fell against the walls as the demon went out of control.
"I cannot contain the demon much longer!" Magnus said as he used his magic to try and keep the demon in control. Alec charged at the demon but Jace ran after him.
"No!" Jace shouted and pushed Alec out of the way but was grabbed by the demon.
"Jace!" Izzy shouted. "Grab him!" She grabbed onto one of Jace's arms and Alec grabbed onto his other arm. Amelia and Evie were still on the floor after the demon went out of control.
"Grab him!" Izzy shouted again and Amelia and Evie both ran over and grabbed his arms.
      "Hold on!" Alec shouted.
"The demon is growing stronger!" Magnus shouted.
      "He's slipping!" Alec shouted.
      "Clary! Help us!" Amelia shouted.
Clary stood up and held a seraph blade in her hand.
"Clary, if you kill the demon, your memories will be lost forever!" Magnus told her.
      "Help us!" Evie screamed.
Clary looked at her seraph blade and then charged forward, she launched into the tornado of the demon and killed it. Jace fell to the floor as they all ran over to him.
"Jace. Oh, my God, Jace." Clary said as they all knelt down.
"Jace. Get up." Alec started to panic a little.
"Is he gonna be alright?" Clary asked Magnus.
"I don't know." Magnus replied. "Does he normally just lay like that without moving?"
      "Get up." Alec said. "Jace."
      "Jace." Evie said.
Jace suddenly took a deep breath and rested on his arm.
"I'm alright. I'm alright. I'm alright." Jace repeated. "I'm just getting my second wing."
Alec walked away and Magnus followed after him. Amelia and Izzy both stood up and looked at Alec.
"There's nothing to be ashamed of, Alec." Magnus told him.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Alec replied.
"You will." Magnus said before walking away.
Amelia walked over to him. "Alec." She said. Izzy joined them and Alec just looked at them and walked away. Izzy and Amelia glanced at each other, upset for Alec.
Amelia saw Evie stood a bit awkwardly so she walked over to her.
      "Hey." Amelia smiled.
      "Hey." Evie smiled back.
"If you want, you can stay with us at the institute?" Amelia offered.
"Are you sure?" Evie asked, with a look of happiness in her eyes.
      "Of course!" Amelia smiled.
"Thank you so much!" Evie smiled back.

      Amelia knocked on Evie's door.
"Hey! Have you settled in?" Amelia asked as she walked in.
Evie looked up from her arm that she was burning a rune onto.
"Yeah." She smiled. "Thank you for letting me stay here."
"It's no problem at all." Amelia replied and sat on Evie's bed in front of her. "So how come you're not with your family?"
"I don't have one." Evie replied. "Once they died, I left Idris and that was only last night."
Amelia smiled at her sympathetically. "I know what it's like to watch your family die."
      "What happened?" Evie asked.
"My parents died on a mission when I was 9 and I was adopted by the Lightwoods." Amelia summed it up.
"Oh I'm so sorry." Evie said.
"No it's ok. I don't really remember it. I don't really look at myself as part of that family anymore. The Lightwoods took me in and cared for me as their own. I'm a Lightwood now." Amelia smiled. "I'm so sorry about your family."
"It's ok." Evie replied. "I never really saw them much or knew them that well. They were so caught up with the clave and missions."
"I'm sure they loved you very much though." Amelia said and Evie smiled.
"So what's going on with Alec?" Evie asked.
"I don't know if you caught on from tonight but he has feelings for Jace and has never wanted to admit it and Jace is straight and thinks of Alec as a parabatai and brother so it makes things harder for Alec and he bottles things up so he is always quite moody." Amelia explained. "We love him though. He's fine with us it's just when he meets new people he doesn't really trust them."
"So Alec and Jace are parabatai." Evie said.
"Yup." Amelia said and remembered what Izzy and Alec said about how she says that when she doesn't know what to say or when she's mad at someone. She just didn't know what to say right then.
"Who's your parabatai?" Evie asked.
      "What?" Amelia asked.
"You have a parabatai rune." Evie pointed to the parabatai rune on Amelia's collar bone.
"Oh right yeah." Amelia said. "Izzy." She replied.
"Cool." Evie said, not really knowing what to say. "Is it just me or was Magnus hitting on Alec?" Evie tried to start a conversation again.
"Yeah I think he was." Amelia smiled. "Izzy is already working on getting Alec and Magnus together." Amelia laughed.
"Well I think they'd be really cute together." Evie smiled.
"Me too." Amelia smiled too. "Well I'll let you get some sleep."
      "Goodnight." Evie said
"Night." Amelia said and walked out of the room and down the hall to her own room.
