"Raise hell with me." Sebastian said.
Evie looked up at him and smiled. "Of course I will!"
"Evie no!" Amelia shouted and ran forwards. Alec grabbed hold of her, around her waist but Amelia got out of his grasp. Before she knew it, Raphael was holding onto her, pulling her back and she was crying into his shoulder.
"Evie don't do this. Please!" Jace pleaded.
"This is all your fault anyway Jace." Evie said. "Jace Herondale deserves to die."
"What did I ever to do to you to make you hate me so much?" Jace asked.
"You already know." Evie said. "You should have just let me kill them! You took away the part of me that made me who I am. Now I know how Clary's feels about her mother taking her memories!"
"I took your memories because you were going to turn dark!" Jace argued.
"It's my life! I deserve to live it the way I want to!" Evie said.
"We were nine for angels sake!" Jace huffed. "I'm sorry that I was trying to protect my best friend."
"Protect me?" Evie laughed. "Sure whatever you say Jace but you never did that."
Jace stared at Evie for a while. "We should go." He said, walking out the manor.
"Wait don't we need to save Evie or something?" Simon said as they all walked away.
"She can't be saved." Jace turned and got up in Simon's face. A darkness flowed into his eyes but it disappeared as quick as it came. Jace looked down and turned to carry on walking. "And it's all my fault."Jace had been in his room for four hours now. Everyone had tried talking to him but he wouldn't talk. Not even to Alec or Clary.
Amelia was sat on the couch, hugging Max.
"What's wrong with Jace?" Max asked, glumly.
"He lost somebody very important to him today." Amelia said. "He'll be ok though. I promise."
"Hey sis. Hey little bro." Izzy smiled and sat on the sofa next to them.
"How is he?" Amelia asked her parabatai.
Izzy looked down. "He's not in the best state but he'll be ok." She said. "You should try talking to him."
"He hasn't talked to anyone." Amelia protested. "Why would I be any different?"
"Because you were the first one to accept Evie when she found us. You can talk to Jace. You can understand how he's feeling." Izzy replied.
"I don't think I'll make a difference." Amelia said.
"It's worth a try isn't it?" Izzy smiled at her parabatai.
"Alright." Amelia stood up. "I'll try."
She walked up the stairs and made her way to Jace's room. She knocked on the door and when nobody answered, she shouted through the door.
"Jace." Amelia shouted as she knocked on the door. "This isn't your fault. That wasn't the real Evie. I know you were just trying to protect her. Sebastian messed with her. He got inside her head and made her hate everyone she loves. It hurts I know. Trust me. She looked at me as if I was nothing. I was the first person in the institute to trust her and accept her and then she just looked at me as if I was nothing. I can't imagine what it was like for you."
The door to Jace's room clicked open. Amelia walked in and saw Jace walking over to his bed and sitting down. Amelia closed the door behind her and sat on the bed next to Jace. They sat in silence for a while before Amelia spoke up.
"What's going through your head?"
Jace looked up at her and then back down. "This is all my fault."
"It's not your fault." Amelia argued.
"It is. I took her memories and now that she has them back, she hates me fore taking them." Jace said.
"That's just Sebastian messing with her head." Amelia said.
"Look can we just not talk about this please?" Jace scowled.
"Sorry." Amelia whispered.
"It's nothing you did. I just ... I blame myself for what's happened." Jace said.
"I know. But we'll find a way to get Evie back and when we do, you'll see that none of this is your fault." Amelia said.
Jace looked at her and smiled. "Thanks Amelia."
"It's ok." Amelia smiled back and hugged Jace. "I'm going back downstairs. Feel free to come down when you're ready."
Jace nodded and Amelia walked out his room and back down the stairs.
"How is he?" Isabelle asked.
"He's better." Amelia replied. The next morning, Jace woke up early and walked downstairs. Clary was already in the kitchen and Jace walked up to her, kissing her on the cheek.
"Hey." Clary said. "How are you feeling?"
"I'm ok." Jace replied.
"So you're not upset about Evie?" Clary questioned.
Jace looked down. "Let's go find the Book Of The White. The quicker we wake your mother, the quicker this will all be over."
"Ok." Clary nodded. "Let's go now."---------------------------------------------
