"K-K-Keefe?" I choke out, on the verge of tears.
"S-S-S-Sophie?" He squeaks mockingly.
"Keefe!" I gush running over into his arms, he seems a lot taller then before.
He tentatively hugs me back, as though I would break.
"Where have you been? I've been searching-"
"Everywhere for me?" He finishes my sentence.
"Yeah," I say, tears threatening to spill. His nose looks a little fatter, hopefully they didn't hurt him.
He walks with me. I notice he has a slight limp.
"Keefe," I say.
"Mhm," He responds, kicking a stone.
"Are you okay?" I ask, eyeballing him.
"Yeah, of course. Why wouldn't I be?" He smiles.
I smirk and he gives me a confused expression. My facade falters for a second.
"Sophie? Sophie!?!" He shouts in concern.
My mouth forms the words 'no', yet nothing comes out. I focus on all the sadness and pain I feel right now. I squeeze my eyes shut, and in an instant it's gone. I'm at peace. But that doesn't last long.
Keefe falls to the ground in a jolting heap. The hollogram is flashing between reality and imagination.
'Keefe' looks up to me and smiles. Soon I feel a buzzing in my head and a voice I haven't heard in a long time.
Thanks for seeing through the facade, Foster! Didn't know you cared that much!
I could practically feel the smirk on his face, the twinkle in his eye.
He's alive.
He's alive.
He's alive.
I hear someone yell something...
~~~
Sophie. Sophie. Sophie.
The whispers haunt and consume me. They crawl into every crack and crevice.
Sophie. Sophie! Sophie!
They gradually get louder and more rushed.
Sophie!Sophie!SOPHIE!
SOPHIE! SOPHIE! SOPHIE!
SOPHIE!SOPHIE!SOPHIE!
I feel something clod trickle down my back, and I jolt awake.
"Sophie, are you okay?" Bronte asks, his eyebrows knitted in concern.
"W-W--"
"Breath, just breath. You'll feel a little discomfort, but you should be okay," Bronte assures me, which really means he only makes me freak out even more.
"N-N-No needles!" I shout.
"No needles," Elwin smiles sadly, holding out his arms to show he has nothing.
My vision is filled with dots, but I'm able to see that the whole council is around me.
"Sophie! Is-are you okay!" I hear two familiar voices call.
Edaline. Grady.
"What happened?" I ask, swallowing a lump.
"Well, you ran off and then someone came looking for you," Bronte glares at Luis. "and he found you unconscious. He also found this," Bronte holds pieces of cracked and destroyed metal. "There was a ton more from where we found you. Do you mind catching us up a bit?" Bronte asks.
"Um, well I saw Keefe," People gasp, some, ironically faint. "except it wasn't really Keefe. It was a hallogram. Then he transmitted to me, telling me that I was alive," I shrug uneasily.
"But how do we know this is true?" Stina sneers.
A chorus of voices shout their opinions at each other.
"You don't. You just have to trust me," I speak after finding my voice.
Soon Bronte is asking me to try and portray the image somewhere, but Alden saves me.
"I think we should let someone rest, we can talk about this tomorrow," Alden smiles, looking at me. I graciously smile back. I owe him one.
The councilors nod in agreement while others storm off.
Elwin gets right to work, flashing orbs around me. I hear Edaline and Grady running towards us.
They immediately shower me in hugs. Sadly, they have to step aside so Elwin can finish checking up on me.
~~~
Sandor trudges behind me up the stairs. I collapse onto my bed in a big heap. Sleep knocks me out faster then you can say dreams.
Dreams, if only that's what really happened. Nightmare after nightmare of Keefe, my family, and friends being hurt and dying.
It was so terrible, I'm going to spare you the details.
A/N: So that's that! Hope you all enjoyed!
