Red sighed as she slowly walked to the desert north of Castelia City, with all three of her Pokémon by her side. However, just as she was about to step out of the Gate, she heard someone call her name. She turned, and saw Fletcher run into the Gate before stopping, trying to catch his breath. Red turned back around and sighed again.
"Nothing you say will change my mind, Fletcher. Just go home."
"That's not...why I'm here..." Fletcher panted, still recovering, as if he had run all over the city.
"What other reason would you have for tracking me down at half past six in the morning?"
"I want to go with you. I know that you're not just leaving because of the police, and I want to help-" Fletcher was cut off by Red turning and grabbing his shirt collar.
"I don't need any help, especially not from a punk like you!"
"But B-"
"What did I tell you about calling me that!?"
"Excuse me for wanting to call you by your real name."
"My name is Red now!"
"If that were true, you wouldn't react every time I say your birth name."
"Shut up, you smartass!" Red finally let go of Fletcher and looked him in the eyes, pink orbs meeting light blue ones. "Why do you really want to come with me?"
"As I said, to help you. You always seem to try and take on the full burden for everything, but you don't have to. I'm here for you, as a friend." Red scoffed slightly at hearing this.
"I don't need any more friends, you dumbass."
"Just let me help you. Please, B-Red." Red turned back around and started walking towards the desert once more while Fletcher stayed still.
"Well? Aren't you coming?"
