Jump!

Part 30. An Escape.

"Find them! Don't let them get away!" A rather gruff voice yelled out through the smoke, followed by dozens of feet moving rapidly. Within seconds, Fletcher felt someone grab his hand, and he was being dragged away into the trees and out of the cloud of smoke. It was then that Fletcher realised that Red was the one holding his hand and pulling him away, and he felt his face burn the colour of Red's hair.
"Silver!?" Red called out to the surrounding trees, seemingly calm.
"Right here!" the male redhead called back from the left of Red and Fletcher.
"Good! When I give the signal, I want you to start fighting these cloaked fuckers, got it!?"
"On it!" Silver replied, before seeming to veer away from them.
"Red, where are we going!?" Fletcher nearly screamed, having finally regained his voice.
"Let's just say that I've had a run in with these bastards before!" And with that, Red came to a sudden halt, facing the direction of the incoming grunts.
"What the hell are you doing!?" Fletcher was extremely nervous in this situation, especially with the unpredictable redhead who had moved to stand in front of him like a shield, a worrying smirk playing on her lips.

Footsteps filled Fletcher's ears in a matter of seconds, and sure enough, there was a gang of cloaked figures standing before them, with a few Poochyena flanking them.
"So it really is you..." the figure at the front of the group started speaking. "How dare you show your face here?"
"Cut the crap, you know why I'm here." Red responded, her tone sharp.
"You no longer have any business with our king!" Another cloaked person had shouted out, the Poochyena by his side starting to growl.
"Says who? I don't see your petty 'king' out here." Red took a step forward, despite Fletcher trying to pull her back.
"How dare you disgra-"
"Now!" Red yelled, turning and jumping, making Fletcher fall on the ground as a large explosion went off, as if it was a bomb, and they were once more surrounded by smoke.
