The desert between Castelia City and Nimbasa City was excruciatingly hot, despite the fact that the sun was starting to set. Red and Fletcher trudged through the sand, both of them sweating profusely as they struggled against the heat. Laila clung to Red's back while Terror was perched on her head, and Bubbles floated ahead, unaffected by the weather. After a few more minutes, Red stopped, looking at the sky.
"There are clouds starting to roll in! We should take shelter for the night!" She called over the strong winds. Fletcher nodded and followed Red as she dragged herself over to a small, shallow cave protected from the wind.

"The sun's gone down now...the weather's calmed down as well..." Fletcher stated, looking out at the star-littered sky. When he heard no reply from his redheaded companion, he turned his head, to see Red fast asleep, slumped against the cave wall, surrounded by her Pokémon. Fletcher turned back to look at the sky once more, smiling to himself. It really was a nice night.

However, a particular sound cut through the air. It was an extremely pained cry, and Fletcher immediately stood up to find out where the cry was coming from. He almost climbed out of the shallow cave and looked around for a moment before seeing something faintly glowing. He quickly (well, as quickly as you can in deep sand) made his way over to the glow, and he finally knew what was crying out.

It was a small Blitzle, who was covered in cuts, bruises and sand. It seemed to be weakened greatly, probably due to sandstorms. Fletcher carefully picked up the injured Electric type and carried it back over to the cave. "It's okay, little fella..." Fletcher mumbled as the Blitzle kept whimpering in pain. "You'll feel better soon..."
