He'd been waiting for this moment, waiting for the next time they'd cross paths and their blades would meet. He had trained for this day, and believed he was unstoppable, overpowering, and fearsome. The eldest Nohrian prince, Xander, awaited Corrin's arrival, impatiently tapping the hilt of his sword while staring intently at the door. It creaked open, and when Corrin noticed Xander was the only one in the room, she froze, filled with confusion.
"So you've returned, little princess... But only to cover your sword with the blood of the people you no longer call family. Very well then. I will face you with no interferences, it'll be just you and I, your Blazing Yato and my Siegfried... Then let us begin!" Xander's voice boomed, echoing off the high ceiling and walls of the castle. He reached for the hilt of his sword, which was a devil in its own being, and slowly released it from its sheathe, an odd noise reverberating from the sword as dark energy poured out of it, filling the air with an unsettling staticky feeling.
Xander barely gave Corrin 10 seconds before he lashed out at her, the dark energy flowing from Siegfried resembling a mane now, and nearly struck Corrin's chest, directly where her heart was. But instead, someone, someone with long, blonde pigtails, had leapt out in front of Siegfried, taking the attack instead. They let out a horrible screech, and fell to the ground with a sharp bang. Horror overcame Xander, and he began to shiver as though ice had been poured down the back of his shirt as he noticed who the girl had been.
"ELISE!" Xander shrieked, his voice cracking as tears began to fill his crimson eyes. "ELISE!!!" Xander nearly broke into a sob as he held Elise's still body in his arms, blood dripped and stained the front of her once white shirt. Corrin stared in disbelief at Elise, about to cry as a horrible feeling overcame her. "Why did she do this? Why?" Xander began to hyperventilate, and his sadness soon became anger. He laid Elise down carefully, taking one sorrowful gaze down at her before picking up Siegfried again, swinging it towards Corrin, who managed to dodge the attack. " You...you...YOU MONSTER! HOW DARE YOU CAUSE THIS? THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!"
Xander was now filled with so much rage, he could barely control his actions. His piercing red eyes glared at Corrin, as he started swinging his sword viciously at Corrin, but she managed to be agile enough to block his attacks with her Blazing Yato. "This will go on forever if you don't attempt to stab me!" Xander shouted, pressing Siegfried's edge roughly against the Blazing Yato. The swords scraped against each other, resulting in a small shower of sparks. Corrin ducked under Siegfried swiftly, and managed to impale Xander's stomach, though she was meaning to run past him. He swung his sword at her once again, and this time, it left a deep wound on her shoulder. Wincing, she managed to stab Xander's leg and his stomach once more, trying her best not to cause too much harm.
After some time, Xander had fallen backward, a stream of blood dripped from his mouth, and he breathed heavily. "Wait right here, I'll be right back with some healers, alright? I won't let you die, Xander," Corrin said, turning away to run to the hall. "Stop!" Xander shouted. "Let me die... If I must fall here, so be it. I have fought well for my country, and now..I have failed." "Xander, no! Please, don't-" Corrin screamed, but it was too late. Xander had stabbed himself with Siegfried this time, a pool of blood slowly forming below him as he laid on the cool floor.
Corrin had felt even emptier now, and fell silent. She said a quick prayer to the Dawn Dragon before breaking into a sob. Hinoka, Ryoma, and the others rushed out of the hall to see what had happened. To no one's surprise, all of their eyes had widened, and some started to tear up. "Th-this...wasn't supposed to h-happen," Corrin sniffled. "N-no one..was supposed to..d-die..." Hinoka placed her hand on Corrin's back, patting it every now and then. "There, there... The war will be over soon, alright? You tried your best, it's not your fault this happened..." Hinoka said softly, her voice warm and comforting to Corrin's ears. Hinoka then tensed up, and turned her gaze to the nearest hallway, which lead to the throne room. "Now there's only one more person we have to deal with, and this'll all be over...King Garon."
