Lydia's POV
I woke up the next morning hoping everything was just a dream, but it wasn't.... I have to go to school and face him today. I haven't even told Tyra yet, I can't put myself together enough to talk about it right now.
I pulled the covers off of myself and walked into my bathroom, I looked at myself in the mirror and I was a wreck, my eyes were still full of tears and my hair was a disaster
"Lydia Grey pull yourself together" I said to myself.
I washed my face quickly and applied some makeup in attempt to hide the dark circles under my eyes. I slipped on a purple dress and headed downstairs for some breakfast.
"Hey Lyd" my mom said from the kitchen table, she was sitting down drinking some coffee and doing something on her laptop.
"Morning" I said faking a smile
"Where did you go last night? You were gone for a while" she asked before taking a sip of her coffee.
I grabbed an orange from the fridge and started cutting it up "I just went for some coffee with a friend, she was having boyfriend troubles" I lied
"Oh ok, I'm glad you were being a good friend then" she said back
I let out a sigh of relief. "Where's dad?" I asked
"He left early this morning, something about paperwork with a client" she added.
"Oh, ok" I said as I walked to the table and sat down.
"Hey so I was thinking we could have Jordan's parents over for dinner tonight, since your dad and I have the night off and that doesn't usually happen often, I figured it would be a good night to get to know each other, you know dad's can go watch the game and me and his mom can chit chat for a bit."
"Shit" I thought to myself
"Oh I guess you didn't know this but Jordan's mom past away a couple years ago to breast cancer" I said first
"Oh dear, that's heartbreaking" she said putting her hand over her chest. "Well we could still have his dad over, I'll make my special chicken breast!" She said getting excited.
I didn't know what to say "I don't know, I'll see" I managed to get out
I could sense my mom looking at me as I picked through my breakfast.
"Lyd, are you ok?" She said reaching for my hand.
I tried my best to hold back tears "Yeah I'm good" I said standing up "I've gotta run though, I'm supposed to pick up Tyra this morning"
"Honey you've barely even touched your breakfast" she said calling after me.
"I'll eat it later" I called back before walking out the door.
I let a couple tears drop as I walked out the door but I quickly wiped them away. I started my car and drove to Tyra's house which was just a few blocks away.
I got to her house and she was already walking out the door.
"Dude what took you so long" she said as she sat down.
"Sorry, my mom was chatting away this morning" I responded.
"Why are you talking all gloomy" she said as she put her seat belt on.
"I'm not" I looked at her and smiled.
"Lydia that was the fakest smile I've ever seen" she spat.
