Chapter Two
"I'm so sorry Annora, I should have gotten you out of here by now....now its too late."
Out of here? What was she talking about?
Annora exchanged worried expression with her guards.
"Michelle? What are you talking about?" Annora asked, having no idea what was going on.
Michelle cupped her check gently, "Oh sweet girl, of course your confused. I shouldn't have kept it all from you for so long. I was scared." Michelle bowed her head ashamed. "I'm so sorry I was such a coward," she whispered.
"Annora, what is she talking about?"
Paul asked using their mind link.
"I have no idea." she replied.
Michelle was trying to get her attention, so Annora turned her head to the side and nodded for her to continue.
"Annora... you weren't abandoned. Your parents were murdered."
That had got to be the last thing she'd expected to hear.
Annora was speechless, what could you say to that? Luckily, Paul and Ryan recovered quickly.
"What?" Paul demanded.
"Are you serious?" Ryan shockley asked.
"Why would the Alpha lie? And say she was found on our land?" Paul shot question after question.
Annora sat silently listening to them argue, until she heard Michelle's reply, "Because he killed them."
"What?" Annora spoke for the first time.
"Alpha Robert killed my parents?" she asked, her voice shaky with disbelief.
Michelle's reply had shut Paul and Ryan up. They both sat listening, along with Annora for her answer.
"Yes Annora. The day you were born."
Paul shot up from the couch, his body shacking. His eyes had already turned to a dangerous shade of black, his wolf was surfacing. "Enough of this!" he shouted. "Annora she's crazy," he spat. Grabbing Annora by the arm, he began dragging her towards the door.
"Paul stop." she urged.
"You cant honestly believe her?" He had stopped and turned to stare at her in blatant disbelief.
Did she believe? Michelle had never lied to her before, why would she now? The odd thing was, Annora felt it was right. Something had always unnerved her about Alpha Robert. He was such a hard man, and his punishments were always brutal. But he had never hurt Annora. Made her uncomfortable, scolded her, and would lock her up in the mansion yes, but never physically hurt her. Not like he did the other members of the pack. Could he have killed her parents? Why?
"Paul I want to hear what she has to say," she argued, trying but failing to pull her arm free. Ryan came up behind her and urged her on, "Paul's right. Let's go."
It took both of them to drag her out of the cabin.
"Annora we have to go back." Ryan said. He looked confused and guarded. Did he believe Michelle?
Paul was clenching his teeth, and looked ready to shift at any moment. He was furious at Michelle no doubt about that. He was third in command so an accusation against his Alpha right in front of him, questioned his loyalty for letting it slide. Annora's guess was he was doing everything he could not to turn back and discipline Michelle.
