Chapter Nineteen
Everything seemed as if it was moving in slow motion. I stood there dazed as I watched Luke crash with a nearby tree. The impact had so much force it snapped it in two. The shock I felt at seeing Lucian quickly faded when I watched him stalk towards Luke with the look of death in his eyes. I quickly snapped out of it and ran to intervine.
"No! Stop," I screamed as I jumped onto my mates back.
Lucian growled and shrugged me off, causing me to land on my backside with a thud. The impact took the air from my lungs and prevented me from getting back up right away. I sat there trying to catch my breath and was unable to help as both Luke and Lucian shifted into their black wolves and attacked.
I could pick out Lucian's wolf easily since he was a good two maybe three inches taller than Luke's and was much more intimidating.
A pair of hands lifted me up from behind, I turned and tensed when I realized it was the Beta. He gave me a small smile but it did nothing to reasure me.
Luke's wolf wasn't holding back and suprisingly was holding his own against Lucian. He shouldn't have been able to since Lucian was an Alpha but I had seen Luke fight before; his wolf was strong.
I struggled against the Beta's hold, trying my best to get free and help my brother. Lucian was my mate and I didnt want to see him hurt either but Luke was my family and Lucian was attacking him for no reason!
"Let me go!" My outbust only caused the Beta to tighten his hold. I growled and continued to fight him but it was no use. I quickly took note of all the other wolves now in the clearing with us. At least ten wolves, obviously from Red Fang Pack.
"Stop them!" I yelled to anyone who would listen.
"The Rogue is getting what he deserves," the Beta said close to my ear.
The commotion had somehow alerted the others and they all came rushing through the trees in their wolf forms, Micheal in the lead. They wasted no time attacking the other members of Red Fang and soon it was a a full fledged battle in the small clearing we were in. My heart nearly stopped when I saw two wolfs tearing into Kyle. They were outnumbered, I had to do something. The Beta didn't expect me to shift and as soon as I did it caused him to let me go.
I quickly made my way over to Kyle and threw my weight into the nearest wolf causing him to stumble back off of Kyle. I couldn't do much about the other wolf but at least I'd evened the odds for him. My attention remained on the wolf in front of me and I wasted no time throwing myself into the battle. I wasn't the best fighter but I did have a strong wolf. I guess I could thank my father's Alpha blood for that. I jumped on the wolf trying my best to get a grip on his throat but he easily bucked me off. It didnt pass my attention that he was simply fighting on the offensive and was trying his best not to hurt me in any way. I got sick of the game when he pushed me off for the third time and instead turned to help someone else. Luke and Lucian were still tearing into each other but with more force. They both were covered in blood but I couldnt tell who was hurt worse since it didnt seem to be affecting them in anyway. I decided if I got them to stop fighting hopefully everyone would stop. It was my best bet so I didnt think twice before jumping in between them.
It was probably the stupidest decision I'd ever made when I realized their wolves had taken too much control and it would take a moment for them to reconize me. A moment was all it took for Lucian's teeth to sink into my thigh and for Luke to slash his claws clear across my back. The pain was so intense from both wounds that I couldnt hold on to my wolf form and felt myself shift back to human.
"Shit Nora!" was all I heard before everything went black.
****************************
I awoke slowly, trying my best not to moan in pain. My body felt like it had just been crushed by a tank. I took deep breaths and tried to asses the damage without moving to much.
"I wouldn't move if I were you."
My eyes snapped open to find the Beta staring down at me with a slight frown.
"Your not fully healed yet," he said not breaking eye contact with me.
My eyes drifted around noticing I was in the same room as before. Where was Lucian? Why was the Beta in the room with me and not my mate?
The Beta must have know what I was thinking and answered my unspoken question.
"The Alpha had to step out for a moment, he didnt want you alone in case you woke up."
He had a deep voice that matched his intimidating exterior. He was looking down at me with understanding and concern though.
"Um ok. Thank you for watching me...um," I let the sentence hang.
"Aaron. My name is Aaron," he said giving me a respectably bowed his head.
Why would he bow? I was a rogue. Oh yea-duh.
"I am the Beta of Red Fang," he said with pride.
Aaron looked to be in his early twenties but that wasn't much to go by when it came to age. He was built though, wide shoulders and a muscular frame. He had dreamy blue eyes and messy brown hair that was sticking up in different directions, it was a good look though he definatly pulled it off. I tried to not be intimidated by his 6'2 imposing frame but it wasnt easy, I just kept reminding myself that though hed had plenty of chances, he'd yet to hurt me.
Aaron got a distant look in his eyes for a moment which I figured was him mind linking with someone in his pack. I took that time to think about everything that had happened in the last 24 hrs; which was alot.
Were the guys alright? That was my main worry. Luke had been covered in blood.... and so had Lucian.
"The Alpha will be here any moment," Aaron informed me, dragging me out of my gloomy thoughts.
Just then Lucian came through the door looking like an avenging dark angel. Seeing him there, unhurt and worry for me in his eyes made my insides warm and my mind go blank.
Lucian rushed to my side and cupped my face in his large hands.
"Your awake," he stated.
I noticed the Beta leaving the room, closing the door behind him.
"I am,"
Lucian sighed and rested his face in my neck, running his nose along my throat sending sparks throughout my body.
"Dont ever do that to me again Annora," he said running his hands along my waist.
"I'm sorry, but I had to stop you and Luke," I explained in a whisper.
At the mention of Luke's name Lucian tensed, pulling away from me. He growled deep in his chest and stepped away, a dark look making its way to his face. The way he was looking at me so accusingly made my stomach clench. Had I done something wrong?
"No more games Annora. Your going to tell me right now why you ran from me," he said through clenched teeth. "Not to mention that I find you in another man's arms; naked" he growled.
