I couldn't sleep. Big shocker there. It was an ongoing problem but I had gotten used to it. Most of the time I could slip out of the Hephaestus cabin without any alarms going off. I would usually walk down to the lake and stay on the docks until campers started to wake up. No one knew about it and I was good at covering it up. A little makeup under the eyes, a lie about working in Bunker 9, and I was good to go. That meant tonight was no different. It was around 10 and I was getting dressed in something warm because I was a year round camper and it was in the middle of fall. I put on a pair of jeans and a comfy t-shirt, then threw on a jacket and a beanie. I snuck outside through the secret back door we build in and headed to the docks. There was something different about tonight, though. It was a blood moon tonight so I brought my high tech camera I made with me so I could add a picture to my photo wall. There was a small room in the back of the Big House that Chiron let me use as an free space. I loved space so I was always taking photos of different anomalies and studying what I could. I was a space nerd so when Chiron saw how much I loved it, he gave me the back room. It's where I spend most of my time. When I got down to the docks, there was a perfect shot of the moon and it was dead silent so I had no interruptions. I sat down and lined up the camera so I had a good image, and then took a few pictures. It was nice in the silence but I always got a little bored so I pulled my phone and headphones out and put on (favorite band/artist). We had engineered phones so monsters couldn't track us and now we used them whenever we want. I was still on the docks and completely unaware of my surroundings until I felt a hand on my shoulder. Being a demigod, my first instinct was to defend myself, so naturally that's what I did. I grabbed the persons hand and while standing up, rolled them over my back and onto the dock with their head almost in the water.

"Hey, calm down. I just came out for a walk." The person said. I recognized the voice but couldn't put a name or face to it, so I took out my phone flashlight and shined it on the demigod. When my eyes adjusted to the light, I saw it was Jason Grace. He was one of the roman kids who stayed around cause he had friends here. I saw him around, most of the time with my brother Leo and his friend Piper. We had never met so I didn't really know what to say.

"Jason? Why are you up so late? It's 2 in the morning." I said, questioning him. I was never very trusting, so him being here set me on edge.

"Like I said, I just came to walk around. Also, why are you out here and how do you know my name?" This boy was cute, but that's about all he had going for him.

"I know your name because your friends with my brother. Also, none of your business." I hated when people were walking around at night. I could never get any peace and quiet, mainly because I was hiding so no one could see me.

"Oh, so your Leo's sister. He mentioned you a couple of times, but I've never seen you around camp." I decided I could let him up so I gave him my hand and helped him get back on his feet. He was an inch or two taller than me, and while he had blonde hair I had (h/c, if you have blonde change it to something else). He looked awake and alert, while I had bags under my eyes and looked like a teen living on the streets. "Do you want to walk with me? You seem like you need someone to talk to." He may have been right there but besides that I was fine. I decided to take a walk with him. What's the worst that could happen?

"So, how did you get to camp?" Jason asked, trying to break the silence.

"My mom thought it would be a good idea to go camping in the woods nearby, not knowing I was a demigod. Let's just say, I visit her grave every year." I can dropped off, not really wanting to carry on the conversation anymore.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked." Jason looked worried, and almost sad.

"It's okay. What about you?" This started a two hour conversation. We talked about anything and everything, from quests to food to video games.  Finally it was around 4 in the morning and I knew the harpies would be around to do a morning check before some of the kids started to get up. Jason walked me back to my cabin and we stood outside the door.

"It was nice getting to talk with you, Y/N." I blushed and smiled at him.

"You too Jason. We should talk again sometime." He smiled back and gave me a hug. It was a little unexpected but after a few seconds, I hugged back.

"You never told me why you were awake." Jason said as I was opening the door to the cabin.

"I'm a bit of a night owl." I closed the door and smiled. Maybe not getting sleep wasn't such a bad thing.
