I want to tell you a story. This is a story about a girl who has been, in her mind, to hell and back. She hasn't gone through a lot of things that normal people go through, but she's still here. This girl's story starts with the day she was born. March 30 2003 at 3:11 AM in the Everett hospital in Washington. This is where she is brought into the world. The doctors quickly take her to another room to hook her up to a machine so she will start breathing normally. It isn't a disease, she's just unlucky. It seemed that trend continues for most of her life.
When she was just 6 weeks old and her parents had been married for 6 months, they got a divorce. Not because of something serious, they just didn't think it was a good idea.
When she was 2, she went to her close family friend's, who she called her aunt and uncle, wedding in Hawaii. This wedding was held on a cliff and this 2 year old girl tried multiple times to just walk right off the edge. Just like that. Her mother stopped her everytime, but one mistake could have led to her death.
When she was 4, multiple things happened. One being, she moved out of her grandparents' house and into an 825 sq ft apartment. It wasn't huge, but it would do. Next, her mother was told she had cancer. Now, she couldn't bear to tell her daughter, so she didn't. All she did was tell her daughter she was sick and was going to get better. Now, the little girl wouldn't notice this at the time, but her mother had started to drink more. It wasn't horrible, just more than a usual person should have. Soon after this, the girl had a surgery to remove the tumor caused by the cancer in her neck. The surgery, originally supposed to take 2 hours, took 7. Almost all of her immediate family was there. Her mother, her grandmother, hat grandfather, her father, her aunt and uncle from earlier, and her first cousin once removed who happened to live close by. They waited until this from came out, safe and sound, and hugged each other in joy. The little girl stayed in the hospital for a few days until she was able to go home. She had to go for check-ins every once in a while, but they soon became less frequent. The girl was safe, for now.
Now this girl is 10, she has been through friendships, a rock to the head along with other things, and thinks she can conquer it all. Until that day. Her mom picked her up from YMCA and told her something she remembers from that day on. We're moving to Chicago. This girl is heartbroken by the fact that she has to move to a different part of the country she's never been to and leave here friends behind in the middle of 5th grade. When she gets home, she rode her scooter over to her friend Taylor's house. She knocked on the door and Taylor greeted her with a hug, then let her in. Taylor asked her why she came over and the girl stopped for a second, they said those words that still haunted her. I'm moving to Chicago. Her friend gives her a huge hug and her parents gasp. It was out of now where, but her mothet's new job requires it.
Fast forward to her last day of school in Washington. Before she leaves, her class gives her something they've been working on since she gave them the news. They had her a small paper book filled with notes, pictures, and drawings. Everything she needs to remember them. She takes it immediately and resists the urge not to cry. When she goes home to show this to Taylor, the girl throws it behind her bed. She is outraged, but Taylor has a good reason for her actions. She can't deal with the fact she's moving and doesn't want to think about it. The girl understands and the two go back to being friends.
Now it is her last day in Washington. She says goodbye to her friends, and hugs Taylor the longest. Although she wishes she could see her again, she knows it will never happen. Then Taylor does something special. They trade stuff animals. The girl hives Taylor her favorite and Taylor gives her Reece. A black and brown dog that at the time was almost the size of the girl's body. The tells Taylor thank you and leave for the plane, hopping into the car with her suitcase which she will be living out of for the next two to three weeks in a hotel room and her cats.
