Ch 40-

LANEYS POV:

Being back with Harry was wonderful. I didn't realize how much I needed him. The best part was- I got to see Niall too. Vanessa was living with him, so I thought he was doing well, but sometimes I worry. Niall was one of my very best friends, and I can't help but to have a sense of protection over him.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was sketching on a piece of paper, when I heard a clatter at the door. I reluctantly brought myself up off the couch, laid down my paper, and ambled to the doorway.

I opened it.

There stood Harry - cheekily as ever.

"Yes?" I questioned with a slight smile.

"I have something to tell you." Harry answered, smiling wider.

"Ok..." I urged on, gesturing with my hands to encourage him more.

"Well I can't just tell you now! We must go out to eat tonight, so I can sit down and tell you then." He replied with a smirk.

I rolled my eyes... He just couldn't wait to tell me that he had something to tell me.

Then, we both walked back into the flat to get ready for dinner.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Harryyyyyyy. I need your help, can you put on this necklace for me please?" I asked, fluttering my eyes to him sweetly. Harry smiled and began to fiddle with the clamp of the necklace behind me.

"Perfect." I finally said. "Now all I have to do is find my shoes."

Harry chuckled and walked into the main room.

After I had finally found my shoes, I noticed Harry scanning at the sketches on the couch. I ran over and snatched them out of his hands.

"Hey!" Harry exclaimed.

"Hey? I should be the one saying hey! These are mine.."

"Laney, they are really good. Don't be embarrassed." Harry said, now walking towards me. I sighed and put the papers face down on the counter.

"Let's go to dinner, I'm ready." I finished. Harry nodded, grabbed my hand, and we left the flat.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Haz, this food is amazing!" I exclaimed, taking another bite. Harry just smiled and continued eating. He hadn't been very talkative tonight... He still hadn't told me that thing he was trying to tell me earlier!

"Soo... You were going to tell me something?" I reminded him. He set his fork down and nodded.

"I have good news and bad news, Lane.." Harry started. Now I was nervous.

"You see, we have new tour... Where We Are... and I'm going to be on the road awhile..." He whispered. I frowned because I just got him back and now he's leaving me.

"But... If you'd like to- I really want you to come with me." Harry smiled. And now I perked up.

"Of course I want to come! I want to support you! I need you! Harry, you aren't getting rid of me that easily." I laughed. We were both laughing at this now. His laughter died sooner though.

"Is there anything else?" I questioned, but he just shook his head.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now we were walking through the park. It was just past midnight and for once- no one was following us around. It was so peaceful. The deep blue sky with radiant stars, lit up the whole night. The breeze just perfectly blew, and the trees were quieter than ever. Harry and I. Perfectly in solitude. Our hands clasped together. I could have stayed like this forever.

"Laney." Harry hummed. I looked up at him.

"Yes?" I whispered.

"Look at this. Now this is a midnight memory." He whispered back against my hair. I smiled, and chills ran up and down my arms.

Then, Harry let go of my hand and stepped in front of me. I was confused at first, but then this moment became like a perfect dream. Well at least... I had thought so...

Harry bent down on one knee, took me by the hand, and gently said, "Laney Jones, I promise you, I will always love you. Every second, of every minute, of every hour, of every day...so.." He pulled out a tiny box from his jacket pocket. He opened it- inside was an indescribable diamond ring

"Marry me."

I gasped.
