Chapter 35: Two Sided Emotion

Ch 35:

:LANEYS POV:

So, I'd been living with Niall for four weeks now, and I liked it.... I guess. I admit I didn't miss Harry. For awhile, I did, but now... I didn't. I haven't seen Harry since the night he dropped my stuff off, although, Niall had been out to dinner with him several times. 

Now, my pregnancy symptoms were getting more noticeable.

"Laney!!! Nessy is here!" Niall called. I had just fixed myself dinner and taken it to sit down. Before I could go over to say hi to Vanessa, I was taken off my feet by an immediate hug. "LANEYYYYY!!!!!" I heard the sweet voice underneath me.

"Nessy, I missed you." I whispered, stroking her hair.

"I missed you more." She whispered back, hugging me tighter. Suddenly, I missed Harry. I looked up at Niall who had been watching us reunite. He sent me a sympathetic look as if he had read my mind.

After we had eaten dinner, Vanessa, Niall, and I sat down to watch a movie. We ended up watching 'Pitch Perfect' because Vanessa wanted to see it. Although it is a girly movie, Niall wanted to watch it too.

About half way through, we paused the movie to fix some popcorn.

"Nialler, since I fixed dinner, would you fix us popcorn. Pleeeeaaasee." I begged, flashing my lashes at him cutely. He put his hand on his hip.

"I am not a slave for you two!" Niall yelled sarcastically, making his way towards the kitchen. Vanessa and I giggled.

"Hey..eh..Laney?" Vanessa asked, after Niall was out of sight.

"Yes?" I replied, worried about what she is about to say.

"Do you miss Harry?" she asked. I felt my inner self collapse. This caught me off gaurd, and I knew the answer, but my stubbornness was dragging me away from it.

"I did a little at first, but I'm ok now. Why?" I wondered. Did he miss me? Had he talked to her about it?

"Oh. Well I think he kinda misses you." She replied, obviously uncomfortable. I could see the worry building up in her eyes.

"Nessy... What's going on?" I urged. Vanessa wouldn't look up at me.

"N-nothing. I can just tell...that...he misses you." She stuttered.

"C'mon, Ness... I won't tell anyone you can tell me anything. I want to know, sweetie." I urged again softly, putting my hand on her shoulder.

She sighed. "He's not ok, Laney. He misses you so much. I've had to stay with him for these past weeks because he has been so depressed and the boys don't want him to be alone. He is with Zayn right now."

I covered my mouth. Then, I said, "Give me your definition of depressed."

She finally met my eyes. "He has not wanted to do anything really. He doesn't like leaving the flat, he acts nervous around girls, he has been texting his family a lot, and he has been very quiet." Nessy paused for a moment. "And... he cries himself to sleep sometimes, raging about how he messed things up for you."

A tear trickled down my cheek. I did this. And no one told me. Niall probably didn't tell me because he liked having me as a roommate. He even watched me cry myself to sleep from time to time. Yet, no one said a word to me. I thought Harry was happy without me. But now I knew he was not.

"I'm sorry, Laney. I shouldn't have said anything." Vanessa apologized, breaking my thought.

"No-no don't be. At least you are honest to me. Thank you." I thanked her, bringing her into a hug, so she wouldn't see my tears.

Niall stepped back into the room with 3 bowls of popcorn. I let go of Nessy. He placed the bowls on the coffee table and sat down.

"Vanessa, you can keep watching the movie. I need to talk to Niall." I said, pulling Niall onto the balcony. Niall gave me a confused and worried look as I drug him outside

"Yes??" He questioned.

"Why didn't anyone tell me about Harry?!" I yelled at him. Niall acted confused and pissed off for a second, but when he realized I was dead serious his gestures softened.

"Laney... I didn't want you to leave me. I care about you." He said genuinely.

"How selfish! You watched me cry myself to sleep night after night. If you really cared about me, you would have told me!!" I cried. Niall sighed. I looked up at him. "And now it's too late. I can't just show back up in his life. He probably thinks I'm staying with you... forever." I whisper, as if I was thinking out loud.

I didn't know what had hit me, but I broke into tears and fell into Niall, hugging him tightly. He wrapped his arms around me and whispered little things in my ear. Then, I did something I never expected to do again. I leaned in closely, and I kissed Niall on the lips. Sparks didn't fly as much as they did with Harry, but it still felt wonderful.
