Whoop! Okay I only got like one vote. But I do not write for fame, I write for eyes to read. You know, for fun. So here you go. Enjoy Chapter 5 :))
CHAPTER 5: Tell Me This Didn't Happen
I stood there. Did I hear that right? Was Cole really asking me out? I really wanted to date him. But I barely knew him at all. Ugh, this was so freaking confusing. Just then, I heard a whistle from in back of me. I turned around and saw the cafeteria doors open with campers of all ages running outside. Nick must've already made his morning speech and dismissed them. I turned back to look at Cole only to find him smirking at me. Well that was unexpected.
"Hey guys!" Raquel exclaimed, running up to us. "Where were you?"
"Oh, I bet they were at the lake, or something," Chloe chimmed in from the back, giving both of us a smirk. What was it with them smirking all the time?
"No, um, we were, at... um..." I tried to find an excuse, but it was useless.
"We were just taking a walk aroung the lake, that's all. Rosalie needed to take a break for a while, you know?" Cole looked at me and winked while Raquel explained to Em, who had just gotten here, what had happened.
"Okay," she said. "Let's go to our classes now. We have art first and that's all the way on the other side of camp."
"Yes," Cole said, "we should go."
It had only been two weeks of camp and I was loving it. Arts and Crafts was fun, and sports were competitive. I liked that. The only thing I didn't like as much were the hikes and the food. Yeah, the first few days it was the BOMB, but after that they just served runny mac' and cheese, pizza that tasted like cardboard, and this weird spaghetti thing like looked like dead worms. The first time I saw that thing, I shrieked in fright because I thought they really were worms, which earned me anorther week of kitchen duty because apparently it was rude to do that, even after the lunch ladies had made that "with so much love and hard work." LIES. LIES, I TELL YOU.
But being me, I didn't complain. And so here i was, at seven fifty in the morning, cleaning tables, floors, even the kitchen. It didn't take long though, and so I started making lemonade to give the poor campers something to like about breakfast. Just then someone opened the kitchen door and walked in. You see, Nick was afraid I would burn the whole cafeteria down if I had a break down or something (he said this as a joke, considering my "accident" with Devin a few weeks ago), so he assigned me a kitchen buddy. I was too busy making lemonade to look up, and since I had gotten here first I decided I was kind of in charge.
"You can start preparing the plates for the ladies to put food in, and the cups are in the cupboard. The juice is in the fridge, there's orange, cranberry, and pineapple juice. Also, you need to put napkins on the counter for the campers to get as they get their breakfast."
"Alright, boss," a familiar voice said in a sarcastic yet playful tone. I didn't recognize it at first, and I was too tired to think about it. But when I turned around, there he was. Cole.
"Oh, shit," I said under my breath. He turned to look at me, smiled, then turned back around to seperate the cups as if it was nothing.
"Cole, what are you doing here?" I asked, almost demanded.
"Isn't it obvious? I'm seperating cups." He smirked but still didn't look at me.
"Well duhh, but i mean... ugh, nevermind," I complained and turned to my lemonade.
"What? This is totally normal," he stated, as if reading my thoughts. I looked down at my hot pink pijama shorts and white T- shirt that said I Refuse To Be Ordinary.
