CHAPTER 18: I'm Not Sure Anymore
"What the fuck, Raquel!" Chloe yelled out across the field. Nick blew his whistle, looking at Chloe and pointing to the sidelines.
"Fucking bitch," she muttered out, walking away towards Ally, who had been kicked out a few minutes into the intense soccer game when she tried to win by picking up the soccer ball and running around the entire field.
Dylan and Cole had been conveniently placed in the opposite team, while David and Alex were in our team. Ashley was also in our team, but her skank friends were all on Dylan's team. Raquel was once again the captain, playing passionately along with David.
I stood by a corner, hoping and wishing that the ball wouldn't even come near me, let alone be passed to me.
"Hey," someone called out.
I looked around and saw Ashley looking at me. I turned around to see if maybe I had been mistaken and maybe one of her friends was here, or if maybe someone behind me called her.
"I'm talking to you, idiot," she muttered out sourly, walking my way and avoiding the sweaty runners.
"I have a plan," she began, lowly as to not be heard. "My dad and your mom are totally hitting on each other - super gross, by the way. Anyways, there's this trainer that my dad goes to. It's this tiny gym in a town that's only half an hour away, and he's pretty built. Does your mom like that? Bulky dudes?"
"I mean, if he's cute then probably, yeah-"
"Eh, solid seven. Maybe six. The point is, I'm convincing my dad to let this dance teacher into the camp. I'm giving him all these bullshit excuses like how good the exercise will be and whatever, and he's totally buying it. This really cute girl choreographer is gonna be interviewed by him tomorrow afternoon."
"Wow," I told her. "You really did it."
"Technically not yet, but yeah, I did it. Especially because my partner in crime is too busy sucking off her boyfriend's face."
"It's not my fault, he's all heated up like 24/7."
Ashley burst out laughing, causing me to chuckle a little before realizing we were in public. I turned to look at Chloe and Allison staring at us from the mid-field sidelines.
"Ashley," I nudged, turning back around to her. "Shut up, I don't want anyone to think we're cool now or anything."
"And you think I wanna be seen with you?" she mocked, still smiling. "Oh honey, you wish I hung out with you."
And she's back.
"Whatever," I mumbled, rolling my eyes as I turned my gaze back to the intense game going on. Suddenly, someone from the other team kicked the ball strongly, making it roll towards me. Out of instinct I stopped it with my foot.
"Pass it!" people began to instantly yell.
"Pass it!"
"Rosie over here!"
"Rosaline I'm open!"
"Wow," Ashley whispered. "Good luck with this one."
"Back at ya," I told her, kicking the ball slightly towards Ashley.
"Ashley! Over here!" people began yelling, causing her to snarl at me.
"Whatever, here," she kicked it to David who immediately ran and passed it over to Raquel. Ashley gave me one last glance before walking away.
Nick blew his whistle, signaling the game's end and our opponent's win. David and Raquel instantly got together, talking about the strengths and weaknesses of the game and how to be better players - as if that were a problem.
