Marie Flame sprinted out her bedroom as the screams of her daughter filled her ears, her husband hot on her heels.

She skidded to a halt and twisted the door knob, jiggling it when the door refused to open.

She wouldn't admit it to anyone, but she was freaked out of her mind.

A couple of weird things had been happening around the household.

Ever since they moved in a month ago, Maria had been at unease, feeling the eyes of somebody on her every second of the day.

This was why she took showers, not baths.

And her anxiety had heightened when her daughter, Annabelle, filled her in on strange nightmares she had been encountering.

There were also the missing boxes, the dead birds, the junk filled attic and the picture frames that kept getting knocked down.

And this, this was the frosting on the creepy cupcake.

She let out a frustrated scream and threw herself on the door.

She winced as her shoulder collided against hard wood.

She gritted her teeth and was about to fling herself onto the door when her husband grabbed her waist and told her it would be better if he did it.

Her youngest clung onto her shirt and asked about Annabelle.

With all the racket they had been making, they managed to wake the children up.

' I don't know, honey.' She admitted before patting her on the head.

' Annabelle, are you okay? ' Her eldest shouted banging on the door, whilst tactfully avoiding her increasingly hysterical husband.

'Of course she's not okay, dumbass. She's screaming her head off in there.' Ally said, glaring at her older brother.

The screaming stopped.

Her husband kicked the door in frustration before it swung open.

She choked back a gasp when she caught sight of her sobbing daughter, clutching at her blanket as if it was a lifeline.

'Anna!' She shrieked, hugging her daughter against her chest.

She then noticed the red handprints around her neck.

'Thomas, someone tried to choke her!' She said shrilly.

'Anna, who did this? ' Or what did this?

Annabelle didn't acknowledge her and started rocking back and forth.

Andy wrinkled his nose.

'Smells like rotting meat in here.'

'It was him.' Maria

Marie was shocked that it was Amanda that answered, and not Annabelle.

' Who, darling?' She asked.

Amanda grimaced and pointed towards the dark corner.

'Him.'

'God.' Thomas muttered, glaring at the dark corner.

'That's it, mom. I don't wanna stay here.'

She nodded in agreement, still hugging the sobbing Annabelle.

A thought occured to her.

' I know someone who can help.'
