-Patrick's POV-
We get all of Skylar's stuff into my apartment, which thankfully wasn't a lot. Once everything was in the house we started to put things up, I had more than enough space for everything so I wasn't worried. "Where are you going" I ask as she approaches the spare room.
"To put my stuff up" she says with a questioning tone.
"What, you don't want to stay with me" I laugh.
"I didn't know if you wanted me to stay with you" she says seriously.
"Come here" I say opening my arms as she drops her things and walks into them. "I'm not letting you go again. I promise. I want you by my side at all times so I can remind you how stupid I am and how much I really do love you" I say kissing her head.
"I really hope you're not doing this because you feel bad for me. I know for a fact a act done out of alternative motives never ends well" she answers.
"I want you to sleep with me every night so every morning I turn over I can kiss your perfect lips and tell you about how much I love you" I insist. She grows a smile and nods her head.
"Okay, I'll stay in your room then" she responds kissing my nose causing my heart to skip a beat.
We get her stuff into my room and rearrange things so it all fits. There was one box left as she stares at it. I walk over and rub her shoulders as she reaches in the box. There was two picture frames, one from this past Valentine's Day when I got her my jersey, and another of a older women and what looked like a younger version of her.
"Is that your mom" I ask pointing to the woman.
"Yeah, she's beautiful isn't she" she whispers picking up the picture.
"She is. What's her name" I ask not really sure how much she's willing to talk about.
"Skylar" she says quietly and I feel my heart drop into my stomach. I stop rubbing her shoulders and wrap my arms around her waist and set my head on her shoulder.
"I think she would be so proud of you. What you've done and what you're going to do. You're doing her name justice" I say and she turns to look at me.
"You really think so" she asks with tears in her eyes.
"Of course. Sky, you're so incredibly important to so many people already. She wouldn't have a choice but to be proud" I say tucking a piece of hair behind her ears. She sniffles a little then nods her head.
"She would have loved you. I know I was only six when she died but that was more than enough time for me to know she would have loved you" she laughs. I had to smile because she always had a knack for finding the best in a situation.
"How about we go find some food" I ask a little exhausted from getting her stuff in here. Without a word she heads to the kitchen and starts cooking god knows what while I watched her, just like the good old times.
Summer flies by as Skylar and I make the most of it. We visit my parents and she enjoys hanging out with my sisters considering she's about to be with a bunch of guys for a few months. I surprise her and fly Jake to Buffalo to hang out for a while and we all get to know each other better. He's still a secretive guys but he's super funny and I enjoy having him around. After visiting we go to New York and spend the day messing around time square. We take a bunch of pictures and she forces me to pose like the Statue of Liberty next to it. I oblige just to see her smile and it was well worth it. From there we go to California to catch some rays. Part of it was that I wanted to see her in a bikini and part of it was because I needed an tan before coming back. Skylar's scars were barley visible but you could tell something happened. But she never frained from it, she was kind of proud of it. Like a battle scar.
"I love you" I remind her as we sit in a beach that wasn't connected to a lake.
"I love you too" she smiles before kissing my cheek then resting her head on my shoulder.
"I'm going to marry you one day. I don't know when, but some day it'll happen" I say looking down into her eyes.
"Is that so" she smiles meeting my eyes.
"Yeah. We're going to have a beautiful family. Two girls who will rule the world and a little boy who is going to be in love with you. Jake is going to be the cool uncle and my sisters will spoil them. Not as much as my parents though. You'll be the hot mamma who puts people in their place because you'll always be right. I'll be old and retire on top of the world. You guys will be the biggest reason for all my success, I think I want 10 Stanley cups. Yeah... 10" I say and she giggles.
"You've thought this through huh" she asks and I nod.
"But honestly, I don't care what it's like as long as its with you" I say looking back at the water.
"I like what you said earlier. It was cute. I mean we're only 20 but I know nothing in life is promised. Especially family" she sighs. "But I got you and that's pretty fucking good if you as me" she smiles.
