-Patrick's POV-

Coach Q might have only been our coach for less than 4 months but I think he's going to do great things, and I'm not just saying that because his niece introduced me to Skylar. It's no secret the Blackhawks aren't the scariest team in the NHL, we're not the Red Wings. But we will be, maybe even greater. Jonny has been captain for half a season yet he is already doing great. I won rookie of the year and only want to get better. Duncan and Seabs are killing it on defense. Jon and I always talk about what we want to do for this city. A city already rich with hockey history. We want a dynasty. Who's to say we won't make a playoff push this year?

We have our first game back after the pitiful Winter Classic showing and I'm excited to forget about that. I get home from morning skates and turn my phone on to see a message.

Sky☁️: Entertain me!

Me: I can strip for you

Sky☁️: I was thinking more along the lines of educational... plus I would rather keep my sight

Me: That is just hurtful! But I'll be over in a little and we can go to the museum or do something you would like

Sky☁️: Yay, I've always wanted to go to the field museum! You're too good to me <3

Me: Sounds good! I'm on my way :)

I throw on a Blackhawks sweater over my under armor long sleeved shirt and head over to pick her up.

"Look at all this" Skylar whispers standing in the middle of the museum twirling. I paid to get to go to all the good exhibits. She kept insisting she was okay with the cheap tour but her heart wanted more.

Skylar and I are so different yet I couldn't get enough of her. She loved to learn and I loved to play. She wanted to listen and I want to talk. She likes to stay in and I like to go out. Yet we worked so well together. No matter what our relationship turns out to be she will always be my best friend. She understands me better than anyone. She puts in effort every day to help me in some type of way and doesn't even realize it. I distract her from whatever horrible things that run through her head and help her let loose once in a while. Together we just work and I wouldn't want to take this journey with anyone else.

We walk over to the dinosaur exhibit which I admit was super cool. She stops to read a few things but I assumed she knew most of it anyway. We continue to walk around for hours and I just listen to her go on about the African exhibit and the animals. It's like she was a little kid seeing this stuff for the first time ever. I didn't know much about her but there was passion burning inside her, I could see it.

"So, did you have fun" I ask stuffing my hand in my pocket refraining from putting my arm around her.

"I did. You're the best best friend ever" she smiles. I give her a smile and we hop in my car. She turns up the radio and hums along to the song while looking out the window.

"This city is amazing" she says. I look at her for a second before focusing on the road again.

"Is there anything in life you don't like" I ask seriously. I haven't heard one bad thing come out her mouth. She taps her chin trying to come up with something.

"No. I don't believe in hate. There's things in this world I'm not fond of but they're here for a reason. Can't hate them for that" she says. She seemed so pure, so innocent. Whatever happened to her had to be bad. I'm not even sure if I want to know because she seemed so happy now. We get back to her apartment and she starts getting out.

"Wait" I yell causing her to stop.

"Yeah Pat" she says sitting back down.

"Do you want to come to the game tonight" I ask praying she says yes. I want the team to meet her. She is important to me and so is the team.

"I guess I can take one night off" she sighs with a playful smile.

"Great. Be at the UC at 6" I say before driving off.
