-Skylar's POV-
I would have to say my favorite thing in the world is learning. History has always been my favorite subject. There is just so much to know and I want to know it all.
In honor of my new friend Patrick I looked more into the NHL. And more specifically the Blackhawks. I soaked up all the information and am actually enjoyed every second of it. But the one thing I loved the most was learning about people. I have yet to meet a person I didn't think the most of. Humans are so... unique. Patrick was no exception. He was seen as the wonder boy in this city and there is so much I needed to know. I've read the articles about what he can do, what he's done. He's going to do great things and I refuse to let me be the reason he breaks.
School is about to start up and I was getting my things ready for next semester. I was surrounded by papers about chemistry and media. How I came to the conclusion of sports broadcaster is beyond me, all I know is I want to work in sports.
My phone vibrates from the other side of the bed and I groan going to pick it up. I see Patrick's face appear on the screen and I couldn't help but smile. "Stop studying and hang out with me" he whines. The desperation and boredom flow through my phone.
"What makes you think I was studying" I ask.
"Were you" he laughs already knowing the answer.
"Fine. I was" I sigh defeated. We might have only known each other for a little over a week but I know he's stubborn.
"Come walk the city with me" he whines and I roll my eyes. "I'll buy you lunch" he bribes and sadly it works.
"Fine. Meet me at Navy Pier in 20 minutes" I say and hang up. I throw on a oversized sweater and the thickest pair of black leggings
. After slipping on some uggs and grabbing my purse I walk a short ways to the Pier. I see Patrick sitting on a bench with two cups in his hands. I plop down next to him with the biggest smile on my face. "Hey Pat" I chirp and he hold us a cup.
"Hey Sky, want hot chocolate" he asks and I nod my head. I take a sip and it tasted like liquid love.
"This is so good! Where is it from" I ask with the cup rarely leaving my face.
"Some place in the pier mall" he shrugs.
Not many things were open so we decide to head into the city. We walk around and talk about hockey. He never seemed to get tired of talking about it and I never got tired of hearing about it.
"Are you ever scared that someone will hurt you" I wonder walking in between the large buildings.
"A little. I focus on being quick and making sharp turns so I won't get hit as much but it still happens. The worst hit I've ever gotten was probably from Jon" he says with a laugh.
"No fucking way" I laugh looking into his eyes.
"I'm so serious. Broke my front teeth" he says rubbing his jaw. I couldn't help but laugh. He obviously cared about what he looked like and I couldn't imagine how upset he was. "It's not funny! My mom called me and shunned me for not putting my mouth guard in my mouth" he pouts. It was kinda cute, I had to admit.
"I'm sorry. But that's really funny" I defend.
We walk along a little more before finding a place to sit down for lunch. We find a little Italian restaurant and decide to go there.
"Do you always ask all these questions" he asks taking a sip of water.
"A curious mind always accompanies a wandering soul. I just like to know things, how people work. Stuff like that" I shrug looking at the menu. I decide on chicken alfredo and set the menu to the side. I look up to see Patrick staring at me much like the first time we met.
"What" I ask with a little laugh.
"I'm just trying to figure you out" he says.
0Don't push it Pat. Consider this your diets and only warning. There are some things in this world not worth knowing" I say. He nods but I'm not sure he understands.
"Okay then. What's your favorite color" he asks taking a breadstick.
"Easy, blue. What about you" I respond. "Red. Duh".
We spend lunch just asking silly questions like favorite animal or favorite food. He was so easy to talk to and I actually enjoyed it. "This was fun, we should do this again" I say walking out of the restaurant. He smiles down at me and nods.
"I would like that" he says.
He walks me back to my apartment and I head up to my room. "Honey! I'm home" I yell out and Natalie pops her head out of her room. "
"Were you just on a date" she screams as I get a water put the fridge.
"No Nat, were just friends" I sigh.
"Why don't you two just date? Jonny says he will not shut up about you" she sing songs. I look at her as my body goes heavy.
"You know why, Natalie" I say lowly. She emerges from her room and hugs me tight.
"I know sweetie. I know" she coos. "Do you like him" she asks looking me in the eyes.
"I don't know. He's sweet but we have literally nothing in common. Plus he's going places and I don't want to be a anchor to him" I say going in my room. I fall in my bed completely exhausted mostly from my own thoughts.
