-Skylar's POV-

"Patrick! Lets go" I scream lugging about 150 bags behind me and to the door. This is the first summer we had a lot of time off and I was adamant to enjoy it. A month at the beach house relaxing and spending time with my family.

From 2013-2015 we haven't had hardly any time for a break with two cups and a conference final appearance all three years but I will admit, I'm going to miss it.

"Sorry, I got a little extra weight" he laughs dragging his foot behind him.

"Sweetie you're supposed to be helping daddy" I laugh picking up the 5 year old off his leg.

Little Sara Brianna Kane was five now and a wild one, just like her dad. "I was helping" she insists and I had to laugh.

"Whatever you say kiddo" I laugh patting her head.

Patrick decided a nice vacation in Florida would be nice since the Hawks were knocked out of the playoffs in the first round. Personally 2016 was the best season for Patrick but the team fell short of their fourth Stanley cup since 2009. "Where's Jake" I ask looking around. Our little four year old appears from behind Patrick in his Panarin jersey and shorts. His favorite player will always be his dad but Uncle Artemi was a close second.

"Here I am" he exclaims and I pick him up to rest him on my hip.

"You ready buddy" I ask and he shakes his head quickly.

"Can we still play hockey daddy" he asks Patrick with puppy dog eyes. Those things were dangerous. He had his fathers hair and talent, that's for sure. Jake was already playing with the six year olds, even at his small size.

"Of course little man" Patrick replied with a smile. With that we take off for the warm beaches.

"I'm so proud of you" I remind him as we sit on the plane.

"We didn't even get out of the first round" he laughs.

"You might not have won the Stanley cup but you won a lot more. You have a great team going into next year. Even if we lose Shaw and Ladd you guys still have the core in the league. Personally, you had one of the best years in recent hockey memory and the best for anyone who calls them self an American" I remind him.

"Yeah, and at the end of it all I get to have extra time with my smokin hot wife and our beautiful children" he says lacing his fingers through mine.

"Damn right" I reply earning a gasp from Sara.

"Mommy you said a bad word" she yells and I couldn't control my laughter.

"Mommy is a big girl so she can use big girl words" Patrick explains and she lets out a long "ohhhhh".

We soon land and quickly find our lake house to get settled. "Come on bubba, lets go see our room" Sara says grabbing her brothers hand and going to the back. This is the family I've always dreamed of. Sara and Jake are like Jake and I and Patrick with his sisters, they're inseparable and always motivate each other respectively. Of course it helps they're just a little over a year apart.

"We should have another kid" Patrick suggests wrapping his arms around my waist as I watch the kids disappear.

"Says the part of that equation who doesn't have to carry the child around in their stomach" I quip causing him to laugh.

"Hey, we make good people" he defends.

"That, we do" I agree.

"So what do you say" he says looking straight to my eyes.

I look back into them and remember the first time I saw them at the Winter Classic. We were so young but we fell in love so hard. Through all the hard times I've learned to be thankful for moments like this because it makes them worth it.

"I say I would love to have another kid" I respond and he gives me that smirk. You know that smirk when something is turning in the brilliant mind of his.

"Great lets start now" he says kissing my neck.

"AHHHH. Daddy is eating mommy" Jake yells.

Get him" Sara adds on as the spring down the hallway and jumps on us.

We mess around for a little until I see that the kids took it amongst themselves to change into their swimsuits. Patrick and I follow suit and take the short walk from the house to the beach. We spend the day making sand castles and having water fights.

"Mommy I'm hungry" Jake whines poking my leg.

"Yeah I'm hungry" Patrick adds poking my cheek.

"Okay then, lets get dinner" I suggest and they both jump up and down. "Children" I mumble grabbing Jakes hand and heading to the house to wash up.

We go out to a BBQ place by the house and enjoy that time off. I watch as the kids get BBQ sauce everywhere and just when I was going to complain I see Patrick with BBQ sauce all over his face. I wet a napkin and clean him off as Sara does the same to Jake. She was like a mini me.

"I like the water when it's ice better" Jake concludes moving to his fries.

"Me too bud" Patrick says and I let out a giggle. Of course he does.

We spend the night watching movies and we put the kids to bed around 10.

"I love you" Patrick says pulling me into his side while we lay under the blankets.

"I love you too" I say running my fingers through his hair.

He falls asleep first and I was left to my thoughts, I had a lot to be thankful for. I was lucky to have a brother like Jake, he's the reason I have the opportunity to be in this position. I was thankful Natalie stood by me through it all, she didn't have to but I'm glad she did. I think of all the people who got me to where I am today, because no matter how bad they hurt me, I wouldn't be able to be here without them. The last thing I think of is my mom and sister, how much I missed them. I was lucky because that could have just as easily been me, but it wasn't. Each day I enjoy life for them simply because they can't, and I know that if they were here they would. All my life I wanted to be happy, but I didn't know what happiness really was. But as I lay in bed with the man I love I know that I found it. One goal=achieved.
