Hey, Vert here, it's been a while! School and climbing are pretty busy, so I apologize for the lack of activity. I hope to be more active in the future, there's just a few projects I need to get off of my plate and then I can post more.

Moving on! This'll be a relatively short chapter because I don't have too much time, though I hope it helps.

We all get bored of canon clans. Every author has a preference, some distaste, as well, and some bias and stereotypes toward different cats. It's not bad to use canon clans, it's fine in fact, but that, of course, isn't what we're here for.

If you have a nice character, finished or not, a large part of their image is their clan. It dictates a lot of their opinions, beliefs, customs, and attitude- most of all it changes cats, and peoples', views of them.

You're bored of the canon clans. ThunderClan are seen as Mary-Sues, ShadowClan aggressive and detached, WindClan cowardly, and so on. The best thing to do is to make your own clan, but how?

The main thing to do is pick where they live. Preferably, not in a canon area, or at least a habited on. The main problem with original clans is that they're just copies of canon ones, and what most people overlook is that every clan has something that sets them apart,

For instance, let's say you want your clan to live in a valley. Well, that sounds good! Now, what are some names? Of course, ValleyClan works; it's simple, probable, and sounds in-place.

Most names aren't that simple; GrassClan sounds lame, cat's don't know what dragons are, or maybe it just doesn't work, like AlpClan. Take an aspect of that clan, their beliefs, their territory, it all will most likely be fine. It's all your personal preference, though.

Now, you've got a name and location. What makes this clan different? What sets it apart?
These can be many things, like customs and rules, adaptations caused by harsh conditions, and new beliefs.

Each clan has some of these, anything from a small change, like all apprentices must be able to swim, or a larger change like having two leaders. This all works, as long as it makes sense, to cats and you, could be likely, and you're happy with it.

I hope this helped you, if you have any questions please comment!
