And Kyoraku was right. In 12 weeks he was able to get me to learn to master my powers. But during this time I had been completely isolated from all soul reapers outside my squad, I barely saw them. I didn't even sleep where everyone else had. He had to separate me from them when he realized my powers could very well hurt or kill someone if left unchecked. Also my spiritual energy grew exponentially, he even got me a necklace that would act like Kenpachi's eye patch. I always had been afforded a large amount of spirit pressure as a lady of the court and my early lessons as a child were to learn to suppress it so it doesn't effect people with unequal spiritual pressure, which many of the squad 8's men and women didn't have.
Even with the necklace it wasn't all that was needed to protect them I did agree separation from my squad was necessary.Especially after I woke up one day from a nightmare surrounded by shadows with knives to the throats of my own squad members.
Apparently as I trained to get more control over my zanpaktu spirit, the more unruly she became at night when I wasn't in a conscious state of mind to control her.
Finally after years of grappling with my power, Kyoraku told me to confront my zanpaktu in a fight, to show who is fully in control. After nearly getting beat I was able to out smart her. But before this fight she told me why she acted independent of my wishes.
**flashback
"Why is it that your here? Threatening the lives of my squad and friends?" I asked and she turned away."Because I have failed you." She said.
"In what way?" I replied.
"Hitoshi controlled your mind, and I'd here faint sounds of your soul crying out to me for help but I couldn't make out what you said. After you broke from his control I heard the screams. I should have protected you. So I emerge to make sure you are never threatened by him or anyone again. You needed my protection, you weren't strong enough. And I see you still aren't." She said.
*****end of flashback
That is when I knew the only way to make her submit to me was through force, to show her I was powerful enough.
I defeated her and she now happily complied with my demands. And I understood why she acted as she did. Kyoraku told me that when a soul reaper is powerful it's harder to control their zanpaktu who are nearly equal in power. Issues like this happen for people like Hitsuguaya and even Kōgo Kuchki. Their zanpaktu's were so strong they were strong enough to act independently. But the only difference is Captain Hitsuguaya and I learned to control it.
Now that my relationship with my zanpaktu and powers are better I can finally get back to a normal life. Well what was close to normal. Especially with a lingering engagement in the midsts. Captain Kuchki was on a very serious mission so I don't think he has had time to decide on the engagement. This was better because it gave me more time to be my own person.
But my time is limited because I found out he recently returned from said mission. I haven't seen him since that morning I told him about Hitoshi. Either he really was that busy on this mission that he couldn't see me or decide whether he wanted to be engaged to me or he was avoiding me. I chose to believe it was the latter.
"So now that your training is near complete I find it pointless to keep you separate from the rest of the men." Captain Kyoraku stated.
"And women." Lieutenant Ise said and I giggled. They were more like brother and sister than uncle and niece. Probably due to the Captain's young and light hearted nature.
