Chapter 39

AUBREE'S POV
Oh my gosh. My whole body is frozen. I want to run and help her but my whole body is frozen I can't move. The only thing that is coming out of me a scream. Everyone inside the house comes running out. Dallas wraps me in his arms, Gina and Lucas rush to the car and help the kids out. Lucas starts CPR on Lexi while Gina takes the girls inside to examine.

"Aubree, calm down it's ok"
I don't say anything, I force my way out of his arms and run to Lexi. I throw myself on top of her and cry.
"Dallas if you want Lexi to survive you need to get Aubree off" Lucas says
"Lucas I'm trying you know I'm not good with girls I never was" Dallas says as he picks me up and stumbles trying to get me into the house.
"Dallas let go of me I need to go help her she needs me" I say fighting to get free
"No you won't do anything but get in the way..... Aubree stop fighting me...." he places a kiss onto my lips and I melt.
He makes me feel safe, so I melt and start to calm down.
"The girls are alright maybe just some bruises but that's about it" Lexi says as she walks into the living room
"What did I just walk in on" Lexi asks
"Nothing" I say as I start to blush.

LEXI'S POV
I can't hear anything but I can feel everything. I feel rough hands grab my arms and pull me. I can know feel I'm laying on the grass. Then a hard feeling on my chest and lips. Who is this strange person. Then a body falls on top of me the hair smells like strawberries, I assume it's Aubree. Her body is pulled from mine or that's what it feels like. Then the strong feeling in my chest begins again, and then come the lips. I start to feel pain, my arms, my legs, my whole body. And I gasp up for air and I see Lucas... I kiss him because he just saved my life. I start to cough but I can't hear my self cough, something's wrong, why can't I hear? He scoops me up and carries me inside, bridal style. I wrap my arms around his neck because I'm cold.

NOBODIES POV
Lucas walks in the front door soaking wet carrying Lexi. He puts her one the couch and goes to get a blanket for her and himself.

"When did it start raining" Dallas asks
"I don't know it started all of a sudden" Lucas says
"Lexi, are you ok" Dallas says to Lexi
No response. "Is she ok" he responds
Aubree rushes to the couch. "Lexi are you ok?" She asks. Still no response. Lucas comes in and wraps a blanket around Lexi. Dallas motions for him to follow. They go into the kitchen.
"Lucas I think we need to take her to the hospital and then file a hit and run" Dallas says
"I think we should take her to the hospital and worry about the car later" Lucas replies
"Ok, but I don't think we all need to go up to the hospital"
"No, Gina and I will take her up there and you and Aubree stay here with the kids"
"Alright I will get the kids in the playroom and you guys leave"
"Ok"
Dallas gets all the kids in the playroom and Lucas carries Lexi to the car and Gina follows. Aubree is laying on the couch in tears. Dallas walks up and bends down to hr level and gives her a kiss in the forehead.

"Hey don't leave" Aubree says
"Ok, I won't" Dallas says
"It's all my fault"
"No it's not"
"If I wouldn't have brought it up nothing would have happened"
"Aubree just think tomorrow is all about me and you"
"Maybe,Well what if Lexi has to stay in the hospital"
"You know what take my card and go buy all the wedding stuff"
"But nobody will go with me"
"I know someone who will"
He gets up from the couch and gets his phone and goes outside.

AT THE HOSPITAL
Lucas and Gina are sitting in the waiting room while Lexi is getting checked out.
"I feel so bad for Aubree" Gina says
"What do you mean"
"Well tomorrow is supposed to be about Aubree but she will probably have to push it back due to everything that has happened to Lexi"
"Hopefully she can go back home today, so everything can go back to normal"
"I'm going to get a caramel frappe do you want anything?"
"No"

Gina gets up and goes to the cafe down the hall. Lucas' phone starts vibrating, he pulls it out of his pocket and sees it's Dallas.

"What's the problem"
"There's not a problem but I need someone to go shopping with Aubree so her mind isn't on Lexi all day and I am thinking about having the wedding a different day to give everyone some time to adjust so do you know if any one"
"I think that is a good idea but what day are you thinking and how about your sister isn't she going through a break up so shouldn't she get out of the house"
"I'm not sure what day yet but that's a good point thanks for helping"
"No problem, but I got to go the doctor that is checking out Lexi just came out I will call you as soon as I know what's going on"
"Alright"

Lucas hangs up the call and jumps up out of his seat. He starts walking towards the doctor.

"Are you a relative of Lexi" the doctor says
"Yeah"
"Alright come with me"
"Can we wait a second for my wife she went to go get some coffee"
"Of course"

They take a seat across from each other and wait. Gina starts walking up looking at her phone. She glances up and notices the doctor sitting across from Lucas. Immediately she starts thinking the worst and rushes over there.

"What happened, is she ok" Gina asks
"Would you please follow me" the doctor says
"Of course" Lucas says

The doctor takes them to a room where Lexi is laying in a bed sleeping.

"Alright so when you brought Lexi in here you told us that she couldn't hear, right?"
"Right" Gina and Lucas say
"So we took a scan of her brain to see if there was anything unusual, but we didn't find anything"
"But did you find out what's wrong with her" Gina says
"Well my instinct was maybe she is just having a bad day and is upset with you guys and she just isn't responding, but she was looking at me in the eyes and I asked her a question and she didn't say anything, so having a bad day was out of the question, then one of my colleagues noticed a cut on the back of her head and her neck, we fixed her up the cuts weren't very bad so we bandaged them up, but I have to ask what happened to her is there something your not telling me"

Lucas and Gina look at each other. Gina looks away and says
"She got into a car accident"
"How bad was this accident?"
"We don't really know we didn't see it happen" Lucas says
"Alright I might have an idea, you two can go home and I will have someone call you when she is ready to be taken home" the doctor starts to leave
"YOU EXPECT US TO LEAVE WHILE" Gina yells as she lunges for him, but Lucas grabs her before she could do anything and puts his hand over her mouth.
"Thank you sir" Lucas says and leaves.

When Lucas gets to his car he puts Gina down and walks to the other side and gets in. They drive home quietly.
