~Dylan~

Its been over a month or so since I last saw Max and the rest of the Flock. Throughout the month, I had found my way back to Arizona again and had gone back to Nino's little hideout, to find it utterly abandoned. Tables had been upturned, the walls were dented and spiders had made their homes in the corners. Who knows what had happened? After searching the place through, I ended up finding a battered filing cabinet up the back with a couple files left over in it, one being a list of the main Whitecoat facilities.

I took it upon myself to go and do something about the major facilities, and now I'm here, hunched over a desk in one of a million labs in the major facility in New York.

It was sad to see the world at this stage in time. The whole place was battered, torn and disjointed. Almost every building in sight has large holes in the sides with half a pile of rubble next to the base.

The humans are still trying to repair the world, but let me tell you, they're slow and unproductive.

The Apocalypse really ruined everything, and I mean everything. Before the tsunami that created this apocalyptic landscape, Max loved me, I think. I was part of the Flock and I felt I sort of had a place. I belonged.

It was silly to think that. The Flock only saw me as a replacement for Fang when he left. There was never a spot there for me. Now here I am, a lone hybrid avian guy all alone in the world. I cant say I still love Max, because I know she isn't mine to have, but I care for her a lot.

When Fang left the Flock and I joined, Iggy and Gazzy had taught me how to make basic bombs, for god knows why.

I took the twenty bombs I had just put together, using gunpowder, plastic bags, wires, paperclips, rubber bands and a few other things. The plan is to plant them throughout the facility, and blow the whole thing up. I began making my way to the door,  when I heard voices outside.

"I'm sure it was her." I froze and ducked under a table, for precaution.

"Why does that matter, Jeb?" a female voice asked. I heard Jeb sigh. They were right outside the room.

"Because if Nino does what he says he will do, I want to try and fix things with Valencia and Ella, and Max even. If all of mankind will suffer, I want to die happier than now." My eyes went wide. Jeb was still here? And what is Nino planning?

"Where did you see them?" the female's voice was laced with jealousy.

"Around the Slums in Chicago. I couldn't get to her though because of the amount of other people there, and then you all pulled me back to the lab." Jeb replied. I voices began to cease, as they walked out of the facility. I knew for a fact, Max and the rest of the Flock would want this information. I also knew that the lab was currently empty.

I bolted through the halls and chucked bombs in random spots, before bolting out through the smoke the bombs had began to create.

Once I was safely outside and in a tree on the outskirts of the area, I looked back as the lab blew. Parts of walls, machines and chairs went flying, and the explosion shook the ground. I nodded satisfied. I took to the air again, soaring high up to the clouds, watching the ant-like Whitecoats flock to the remains of the building.

Next on my list was to find Max. She had to know about this.

~Max~

Iggy had been gone for maybe an hour or so, before I got bored. Fang was asleep on the lounge a few feet away from where I sat on the single couch. His head was resting on his arms that were folded above his head. His chest rose slightly with each breath, and his crossed legs dangled off the end of the seat.

He had probably slept enough, I decided. I got up and shook his arm slightly. After a few shakes, he groaned, eyes still closed, and put an arm over his face.

"Go away, Max." he muttered in his deep, sleepy voice.

"Fang, I'm bored." I said, sitting on the floor in front of the seat.

"Good for you." he shifted so he was on his side, arm still slung over his eyes to shade them from the light flowing through the windows.

"Stop being annoying." I was so bored, and I had no ideas, other than to eat, but Iggy had gone to the shops because we had none.

I shook him again, over and over until his arm finally moved off his face and his big brown eyes looked back at mine.

"Max, I think you're the annoying one right now." he had a small smile on his lips. I shook my head, just as an idea hit me.

"Let's go for a fly." I suggested. Fang sighed lazily.

"I don't have a choice, do I?" he asked. I grinned and shook my head, before grabbing one of his hands and tugging him up. I pulled him into our bedroom and out onto the balcony. I climbed onto the railing and jumped, my wings carrying me into the wind. I turned to see Fang's now little figure still standing there. He finally followed, his beautiful dark wings carrying him up to where I hovered above the clouds.

As he neared, I zoomed off, Fang following.

It was still an amazing feeling, flying. The clouds and the clear sky above me always make me feel invincible. I slowed down when I figured we were on the outskirts of the main part of the city, and waited for Fang to catch up.

"Do you want to go into town, get coffee of something?" Fang suggested, as we began our descent. I shrugged.

"Sure."

~Iggy~

I aimlessly threw the cheese on top of all the other groceries in the trolley. I had been to the shops almost a million times with Angel, Nudge or Max so I pretty much knew where everything was by smells and sounds and feeling.

I felt the cold air hit me, and knew that this was the milk section. I bent down and grabbed a milk carton and went to put it into the trolley.

"You drink Rice Milk?" a heard a female voice. Rice Milk?

"No." I replied, shortly. I figured from her voice, that she was around the same age as me.

"Really? You're holding rice milk." she pointed out.

"Oh. Am I?" I put the milk back down next to the others.

"Here's some normal milk, if that's what you call it." she grabbed my hands and placed the milk into them.

"I'm not hopeless." I frowned, reluctantly taking the milk from her. I hate it when people don't treat me like anyone else.

"You're blind." she sounded very confused.

"Yes. Blind, but not hopeless. And I'll have  you know, I drink rice milk occasionally." I replied, getting a little frustrated. Being blind always led me to making silly mistakes. I hate it.

"I'm Alyssa. My mother is also blind, but she isn't as capable as you. I just wanted to help." her voice defensive and a little upset. That immediately made me feel bad.

"I'm Iggy." I replied, putting my hand out. I felt her take it. Her hands were soft, and delicate, although I felt a gash on the side of her hand.

"How did you get that gash?" I asked her, putting a safe hand on the trolley.

"Cooking. I work in a Café." she replied. Alyssa seemed lucky. I had never really considered it before, but cooking in a Café would be really fun.

"You cook?" I asked.

"Yeah. I love it. I'm assuming you cook, from the items in that trolley?" she said, a smile shining through her voice. I nodded.

"Maybe we could cook together sometime?" she asked. I grinned a little.

"Sure."
