Chapter 17 - Betrayed

"Huh?" Kino looked confuse. He was trying to understand the question that Janne gave to him. "You wanna go home? Why?"

"W-Well, dad told me to come home. It's just one day, so..." Janne asked him again. 

"Why are you so desperate--" Kino glanced towards the calendar on the top of the side table and he immediately knew about it. He smiled a little to her. "I see. So that's why he invited you to come home. It's your birthday" Clearly he almost forgot about her birthday. It's not like Janne cared about it, but...how about Ruki? He lost his memory about Janne and it was obvious if he forgot her birthday too. She wanted him to said Happy Birthday directly to her. When she went home to her family, he only said through the phone and sent a present to her. This year, she was planning to celebrate it together, just the two of them. Unfortunately... She have to cancelled her intention.

"Okay then" Kino suddenly said.

"..Eh?"

"I said it's okay if you went home, but I'll be waiting in front your house. In case you're going to try to run away again"

"Deal. Thanks, Kino-kun" She smiled a bit to him, rather shocking him. To Kino, that was the first time Kino witnessed her smile to him since long time. It wasn't her true smile but he was satisfied as he was like looking at the small Janne that he always knew. 

"Say, come with me to school again. It's boring though but knowing you are waiting for me, I guess I don't mind going to school" Kino stated. "Besides, I wanna show you around to Ruki. Too bad he lose his memories so he won't know how does it feel when his girl was stolen by me" Janne couldn't countered his words. Every time Janne came to the school and met Ruki, he never shown any kind of emotions to her. Even when Kino wrapped his arms around her, trying to make him jealous of him-Ruki never changed his expression. 

Expressionless like always. Like the first time Kaito introduced them. It was really sad to Janne, because the old Ruki-he will take Janne away from Kino and protected her like he was something precious, vulnerable and fragile and he will do anything to ensure her safety.

But now...

Ruki considered her as nothing. He did not even cared about her well being anymore.

Ryoutei Academy

At school, as usual Kino asked Janne to wait for him. She will be either at the library reading books or went to the forest or just sleeping in the infirmary. That day, Janne was pretty much confuse of what to do. She decided to went to the library to killed time until the school finished. She enjoyed spending her time in the library, there were many kind of books there. And for Janne who loved fantasy story, the library was a perfect place for her. The book she decided to read was about a triangle love between two devils fighting over one human girl.

One devil already obtained her heart while the other was desperately want to made her as his. The human girl already decided to gave all of her, both mind and body to her beloved devils where unfortunately... Her devil got in to an incident, a terrible incident in his world causing him forgot all of his memories about his woman. The human was depressed while the other devil tried to made her as his. The girl tried every ways that she could find to obtained her devil back but it was futile. In the end, when the girl was in incredibly danger, he told him of how much she loved him despite he was the devil and she was a human, even though they were having a forbidden relationship, she loved him no matter what. Her devil suddenly saved her and he remembered everything about her. As the two lovers finally reunited, it was found out that the God was testing them whether they will stand together to the trials that he gave to them knowing that both of them were different to each other. One devil and one human. One being incapable to love while the other desperately want to love.
