Letter 21

I've seen Caggie every day since that night.  She'd be in the store on every break she got and I'd leave Verity in charge on mine.  Those few hours we were apart gave me that weird feeling inside; like a swarm of nerves in my stomach.  I think I have a crush on her.  Well, probably more than a crush but you know...  I'm not gonna admit it like this Freddie!

I told Cags about you today.  She nodded at me slowly as I told her and then she said, "And you thought I didn't know?".  That earned her my raised eyebrow look.  She pointed out that she'd seen the two beds - one still rumpled from sleep and the other preserved in an unmade state.  She said about the pictures on the walls with two identical boys in knitted jumpers with F's and G's on them.  She rolled her eyes and told me that the shop name was plural.  She asked me if she looked stupid.  I said yes.  She slapped my arm and then went quiet.

Cags said she had a sister Lacey.  They fought together in the battle at Hogwarts.  She was on the bridge fighting mostly and as Seamus exploded it, they both swung over the edge of the bridge.  Caggie said that she managed to pull herself up and turned to pull Lacey to safety but there was only a wand on the bridge.  She never saw her sister again.

It's strange to think that under all her expressionless complexion, that Caggie is grieving as much as I was.

I'm going to help her through this.

I miss you Freddie.  I wish you were here.
