"No no no!" Liza screamed as she held davids arms up from trying to get frosting on her face.
They were both standing in the kitchen baking cookies together when all David wanted to do was have a food fight. And even better, it wasn't for a video.
David was too strong for Liza. He broke her grasp and made a long pink smear of frosting on Liza's cheek.
Liza laughed and so did David. They just smiled at each other and continued to bake. Liza thought about how happy they were becoming again.
Meanwhile David thought about Liza and how he didn't want to break her heart again. Especially now that they had just fixed everything. He couldn't tell her now, maybe he couldn't tell her ever.
David's smile may have been fake but Liza was too distracted to notice. Once the cookies were done she put some on a plate for her and David and sat on the couch watching YouTube videos.
It was almost midnight when Liza fell asleep in David's arms and he decided to carry her to their room. He lay her softly on the bed and kissed her forehead. He pulled the covers over her and shut the light. Then he slowly creeped to the other side of the bed and wrapped his arms around her. Soon they were both asleep.
The moon was shining on them as it was soon to be morning. They had a few more hours to stay resting but it was disturbed when Liza woke every still thing with a loud scream. She was crying and shaking. David shot up and rushed to her side.
"Liza.. Liza what's wrong?" He said gently shaking her shoulders.
When Liza had realized it was only a dream and David was really by her side she laughed a bit, "I'm so sorry.. I thought it was real." She exclaimed while laughing.
"Oh," David said bluntly wondering what it was about, "do you want to talk about it?" He said walking over to his side of the bed.
Liza lied down as well and yawned, "No," she stated. "maybe in the morning."
David stayed silent, still wondering.
It was almost 5:30 in the morning when David woke up. The sun wasn't quite up yet. He looked over at Liza peacefully sleeping and decided to go for a jog. He needed to think.
His feet hit the pavement roughly and his hair stuck to his face because of the sweat. Morning commuters rushed around him in the streets. He finally turned a corner and was on his way back to the house. He was just in front of his apartment building but he wanted to keep running so he ran around the building for a while. David looked at the palm trees that surrounded him, the pebbles beneath him, the clouds above him, all he was doing was taking in his surrounding him. He was thinking so hard of his mistake that he hadn't even noticed he ran into a girl who was running as well, causing them to both cash onto the ground.
"Oh! I'm so sorr-" David stopped once he saw her face, she seemed so familiar. He thought about all the women in his life when all of a sudden it clicked and David felt light headed. His world started spinning as guilt pushed down on him.
"David?" The girl said confused.
He held his breath, he needed to get away from her, "No, I'm sorry, I can't be here right now."
"Omg! It is you! David! Why didn't you call me back?" Guilt rushed through David's head again.
It was a long time ago when Liza was out with some friends, David was home alone feeling sorry for himself so he went to a bar hoping to get his mind off of things. When he got there he got a little more drunk then planned and met a girl as well. David thought back to that night.
David sat down on the bar thinking of Liza and how she was better off without him. He huffed and ordered a beer.
He felt someone stir next to him, when he looked over his shoulder he saw a very pretty blond girl who was staring at him.
"Hi," she said pushing back her hair shyly, "I'm Casey."
David thought of Liza, who cares, she was probably having fun without him anyways, he smiled at her, "Hi Casey, I'm David. Can I buy you a drink?"
Soon enough they were two drunk fools sitting together at a bar, at midnight. They were laughing at something they couldn't remember when all of a sudden they went silent. Casey leaned in to kiss David and thought of Liza. It was Liza kissing him, not the random girl he just met at a bar.
"David? It's Casey! Remember we, kind of made out in a bar.." She chuckled bringing David back to real life.
David stepped back, "I know! But, but I'm with someone else, and its really great! I can't mess this up!"
She stepped forward and grabbed David's hand, "But what about what happened at the bar, I just, I don't know, I haven't been that happy in a while.. even if I was a little drunk." She giggled a little.
David started to talk but what cut off my Casey pushing him against the wall with her lips and he surprised himself by kissing her back, but only for a second.
A familiar voice rang in the air, the voice that David always wanted to hear but at that particular moment it was the worst.
David pushed Casey off of him, and there stood Liza staring at them in horror.
