A year earlier:

"David! I want you to meet my friend Liza who just moved here from Texas!" Gabbie shouted in a loud party.

Liza stood next to Gabbie and silently smiled at David.

"Hey I'm Liza, nice to meet you." She stuck her hand out to David.

David smiled back, "I'm David, you're pretty.."

Liza and Gabbie gasped but only to realize he was drunk. Liza blushed.

She decided to take a big step, "Well thank you, you're cute too."

Gabbie laughed, "I'm gonna go to the kitchen, you guys stay here, don't let David do anything stupid."

"You're making me babysit?!" Liza shouted to Gabbie but she was already gone into the crowd.

Liza laughed and turned back to David who was staring her down, "Want to dance?" He asked laughing.

She laughed back and she accepted, he lead her to the dance floor and they danced with each other in the middle of the crowd. David looked at Liza dancing. She was so beautiful so he leaned in and kissed her. At first she was surprised, then embarrassed because he was only drunk and wouldn't be doing this he was sober. Lastly she relaxed and kissed him back, maybe in this world, away from her home and her comfort zone she had to take chances.

They spent the rest of the night dancing.

It was the next morning Liza woke up in her bed. The party was fun last night and she really liked David. She only regretted not getting his number or something.

She checked her phone and saw a few texts from an unknown number.

Unknown: hey this is David, i had a lot of fun last night. we should get together sometime.

Liza smiled at her phone and texted back.

Liza: hey David! i had fun too😂 how much of it did you remember though? you seemed pretty drunk lol

David: actually...

Liza: ?

David: heh... i'll tell you if... maybe we can get some lunch together some time?

Liza laughed at David's wittiness and replied.

Liza: why not?☺️

David: great! i'll pick you up today at 1:30 ish?

Liza looked to the top of her phone, it was 11:45, she needed to start getting ready now.

After tearing her closet apart and destroying the bathroom with makeup, she was finally ready, and with 10 minutes to spare.

A few minutes later Liza got a text from David saying he was downstairs. She quickly grabbed her things and headed down. When she reached his car he greeted her with a hug.

"Hey! How are you? How's your hangover?!" Liza said laughing.

He laughed a little nervous, "I'm good, I actually- I actually wasn't drunk last night."

As they drove, Liza was quiet for a second, she let what he said wash over her.

"What?" She smiled.

David laughed a little bit, "Yeah...."

"So when you kissed me and called me pretty... you knew you-

"Yeah," He repeated, "I'm sorry, I just thought, that maybe if I acted drunk, I could do things without, you know, a 'filter' I guess."

"Well that's very bold," she laughed, "I like you a lot."

David looked at Liza, had she just said that?

His face must have said that because she laughed, "Yeah, I just said that."

"I guess since we're all taking chances here..." He stuck his hand out for her to hold, she looked down at it.

David sensed Liza's tenseness and pulled away embarrassed, "Oh, I'm sorry, I thought-"

He was interrupted by Liza grabbing his hand. They just laughed and looked ahead waiting for what was going to happen.
