Chapter 2: Day of Rest
-
Jumin took a day off work.
It was rare of him to do so, but under Seven's constant pestering, he decided he would, anyway.
So there he was, lying in bed.
The temperature under the thick sheets was just right.
And so he resolved to stay under those warm covers for the whole day.
But not for long.
From his comfortable position on the bed, he heard his phone's dull vibration on the table.
Groaning softly, he sat up and stumbled over to the table.
Grabbing his phone, he saw the notification pop up on screen.
-
Good morning. I hope you've taken my advice. Lololol
-
Jumin rubbed his eyes drowsily and typed back a reply.
-
I have. I was snug in bed until you messaged me and I had to walk all the way here to check the phone.
-
Yawning, Jumin decided to just take the phone and return back to bed with it.
And in no time he felt another vibration.
-
Lol sorry
Hope you feel better tho
Want me to come over?
-
Well, there certainly was peace and quiet without anyone in his apartment, as always.
But at the same time, to spend twenty-four hours with absolutely no company was just...
... boring.
Jumin hated to admit it, but to spend a whole day at home with nobody for company would just make him get back to doing work.
Sighing, he decided to reply Seven.
-
Yeah.
-
And he didn't even realize how short that reply was.
Maybe because most of his replies were usually this short.
But Seven didn't seem to particularly mind.
In fifteen minutes, the latter had already arrived at Jumin's doorstep.
-
"I'm here ~"
Seven whistled at the sight of the black-haired man in a thin white shirt and long, black pants.
He laughed softly, rolling his eyes.
"Ahh, what's this? You look hotter in casual wear, Mr. Trust fund kid."
Jumin twitched, slightly embarassed.
He averted his eyes.
"... Not really..."
The redhead waved his hand.
"It's nothing to be embarassed about, really."
Seven sauntered into the apartment cheerfully, humming what sounded like a recently released, addictive tune to Jumin.
"What song is that?"
Seven spun around.
"Oh? It's called 'History Maker.'"
Jumin scratched his chin, interested.
"The tune is very unique."
Seven smiled.
"All songs are unique, Jumin."
The taller man shrugged.
"Can't disagree with that."
Seven smiled at their mutual understanding.
"Would you like to hear it?"
The redhead slipped his phone out of his pocket, and turned the screen towards Jumin.
"I really like the first half of the song."
Curious as to know exactly how good this song was, Jumin nodded, pressing the 'play' button on the phone's screen.
-
Can you feel my heartbeat?
Tired of feeling never enough
I close my eyes and
Tell myself that my dreams will come true
There'll be no more darkness when you believe in
Yourself, you are unstoppable
Where your destiny lies
Dancing on the blade you set my heart on fire
-
Jumin mused at the tune of the song.
The music calmed him down, and at the same time gave him a rush of emotion.
A certain determination.
A feeling that told him he could do anything, as long as he allowed himself to.
Seven's eyes glinted, and Jumin smiled.
"The song is pretty good."
The redhead laughed.
"Isn't it?"
-
And the day went by fast, with both Seven and Jumin simply spending time with each other.
Talking about their days, laughing over the kitchen counter and sleeping soundly on the couch...
If only, Jumin wished, life could always be this pleasant.
A pleasant that was simple.
And yet there was happiness in it.
If only.
