"Uh.. sorry." Sean replied and took a deep breath. "Well last night we got really drunk especially you... *Deep breath* and I tried to get you to the car and you kissed me. When I finally got you home you did this and then passed out..." Sean says looking down a rose colored blush covering his cheeks. "I am so sorry Sean." Asher apologized and hugged Sean tightly. "It's fine." Sean hugged back and when they pulled back Asher also was blushing.
Sean grabbed his clothes and went to the bathroom getting dressed. When he got back to Asher's room Asher was already dressed. Asher got up and went into the bathroom taking an aspirin. Getting drunk probably wasn't such a good idea after all. Sean not having as many beers as Asher didn't have quite as bad of a headache.
The boys went downstairs and attempted to eat something. Asher's mother was gone for work so it was just Asher and Sean. "Wanna play a game?" Asher asked after putting the dishes in the sink. "What kind of game?" "How about truth or dare?" "Okay." Sean agreed and followed Asher back upstairs.
Asher sat on the bed and Sean sat across from him. They played until Sean's mother texted him telling him that it was time to start heading back home. Sean said bye to Asher grabbing his stuff and made his way back home.
The next morning Sean woke up for school. He got ready and made his way to school. Two boys ahead of him were crossing the street when a car came speeding down the road. Sean ran up to the street. " Hey watch..." As if time had slowed down the car hit both boys and they flew over the hood. The car stopped and the boys lay motionless. Sean stood one foot in the road and mouth a gape. Just staring as behind his eyes the scene kept repeating over and over. There was screaming and Sean couldn't move. Next thing Sean knew all you could hear were the sirens of the police cars and ambulances as they they arrived at the scene. A cop stood in front of Sean. "Can you please tell me what happened?" Sean was lifted from his thoughts and slowly started to talk.
After the police got the road cleared, driver in cuffs and the boys in the ambulance. The officer drove Sean back home. The officer walked with Sean up to the house and explained what happened. Sean's mother grabbed Sean and hugged him tightly and thanked the officer shutting the door. "You okay? You wanna talk about it? Is there anything I can do?" Question after question poured from his mother's mouth.
Sean just shook his head and sat on his bed. His mother sighed and walked out giving him some space. Sean's phone buzzed and he opened it. A text from Asher.
A: Where are you?
A: Sean?
A: Are you okay?Sean shut his phone off and laid down staring at the ceiling. He fell asleep shortly after, being exhausted from his mind replaying the scene like a broken record.
Dream
Sean walked down the street, wind blowing. The sun started to come up. Sean stood at the cross walk as two boys crossed. A car zooming close, Sean ran and shoved both the boys. Sean looked a head right at the headlights and put up his hand. Time stopped. He looked around the car stopped in place the two boys were frozen mid fall. Sean started to walk again. A car came out of no where and hit Sean, time had unfroze itself.
Sean jolted up sweat running down his forehead. He looked around. He was in his room. Sean grabbed his phone turning it back on. He had 10 new messages from Asher and 3 missed calls. It wasn't a dream.
Sean got up and went downstairs. A yellow sticky note laid on the counter. Sean picked it up and read it ' went to the store be back in a bit XO Mom~ '
2 hours later
Sean sat on the couch watching TV. Sean's mother had gotten home a while ago and was upstairs taking a shower. There was a knock on the door. Sean reluctantly stood up and answered the door. Asher stood at the door anxiously waiting for someone to answer. When Sean finally opened the door, Asher flung himself at Sean and hugged him tightly. Asher grabbed Sean by the shoulders and looked him up and down. "Are you okay Sean? You weren't at school. You weren't answering your phone." "There was an accident." "An accident? What kind of accident." "A car accident Asher." Sean replied getting annoyed by Asher's nonstop questions. "Were you hurt?" "No, but two boys were hit right in front of my eyes. Asher I was a few steps away. If I was faster I could have saved them." "Sean it's not your fault. You couldn't have moved in time." "Yes it is! I could've pushed them out of the way, but I didn't move fast enough!" Sean yelled as tears weld in his eyes. Asher grabbed Sean and pulled him into a hug. They stood like that for a while. Sean hung on to Asher for dear life and cried. He cried like there was no tomorrow. Asher slowly moved them over to the couch and set them down pulling Sean back into his arms.
Sean had fallen asleep on Asher. His head on Asher's chest, face red, eyes puffy he slept. Asher brushed the back from Sean's face. Sean's mother came downstairs and put a hand on Asher's shoulder. Asher looked up, Sean's mother shown a small smile. "Thank you for coming over. He has been up in his room almost all day since the police officer dropped him off this morning. Asher nodded.
Sean's mother went back upstairs. Asher kissed Sean's forehead. "Everything is going to be okay." Asher whispered against Sean's forehead softly. Sean moved slightly and opened his eyes. When he realized he was laying on Asher he sat up quickly. A blush tainting his cheeks. "You okay?" Asher asked with a concerned tone. "Y-yeah." "Okay if there is something wrong tell me." Sean just nodded.
"If you want I can stay here for tonight. My mom would understand." Asher said after dinner. Sean had barely ate, but Asher kept a close eye on him. Sean shook his head at first, but Asher had persuaded him into agreeing. Asher's mother understood and came and dropped some clothes and other things off at Sean's for Asher.
Time skip to that night.
They played videogames to distract Sean from thinking about earlier. Around three am they both fell asleep on Sean's floor. Asher lay on a bean bag chair and Sean had his head on Asher's lap. Sean's mom came in later that morning to check on them. They still laid together. Sean's mother threw a blanket over them both and kissed Sean on the forehead before heading off to work.
Sean woke up an hour later. He sat up and stretched. He turned and looked back at Asher who was still asleep. He smiled slightly and got up fixing the blanket. Sean walked downstairs and looked outside. The wind was blowing hard and the trees were swaying slightly. Sean opened the door and stepped outside. He sat on the stairs. Cars zoomed by Sean watched the road in a daze. Yesterday can't get out of his head.
Asher woke up and looked around. Sean was no where to be seen. Asher got up and went downstairs looking around. He finally found Sean outside. Asher stepped outside and sat next to Sean. Sean was shivering, his eyes still fixed on the road. Asher took off the flannel he was wearing and put it over Sean. Sean held it close to himself. Asher looked at him and gave him a small smile. Sean looked at Asher and sighed. "What's wrong?" "Nothing just thinking." "Okay, you know you can always talk to me if need be." "I know."
Later that day
Sean's mother came home from work and made the boys lunch. Sean and Asher sat upstairs watching tv. Sean's mother brought them the food and thanked Asher for staying with Sean. Asher nodded. "Thanks..." Sean said blushing slightly. "It's not a problem. You're my best friend, I'd do anything for you." Sean frowned slightly. Asher caught a glimpse out of the corner of his eye. "Hey, did I say something?" Asher asked pitting his arm around Sean. "N-no it's nothing." Sean replied quickly. Asher nodded and stood up pulling Sean up with him.
They went back to watching tv. This is going to be a long day Sean thought to himself. He still has feelings for Asher, so being called his best friend hurt a little. He understands though. Asher had already told him about a girl that he has had his eyes on.
Asher's mother had texted him telling him to head home. Asher hugged Sean and grabbed his stuff. Sean walked with Asher to the door and said his goodbyes. "Text me if you're coming to school or not, okay?" Sean nodded and Asher headed home. Sean went back up to his room and continued watching tv. Was he ready to go back?
