Oh Really? You "Didn't Mean To"?

A/N: Fella above looks kinda how I imagine Mattias when Liz blows up at him....

After breakfast, the boys went back to work, (although Mattias dwardled a bit), and I got to work with Mrs Delton in the kitchen, cooking again.

Mum offered to take the cleaning, and then I moved between the two, helping whoever needed me the most. It was hard work, but at lunchtime, Mrs Delton asked, me to take lunch down to the boys.

I found them in one of the sheds, fixing a tractor. I passed out the lunches, and they told me that Mr Delton was ploughing. I went to take him his lunch, and Mattias decided to go with me to "show me the way."

As soon as we were out of range of the barn, I stopped and turned on him.

"Okay.....so you better tell me somthing....... What on earth was going on this morning?!"

He had the grace to blush.

"Look, I'm really sorry about that.....I didn't mean to.... and I wasn't trying to annoy you....." he said, embarassed.

I raised my eyebrows. I wasn't going to let him off the hook that easily.

"Oh really?!.....You 'didn't mean to'? Kindly tell me how it happened then......you literally just stole my first kiss!"

"Well, if it makes you feel any better, you stole mine too." he said.

I stared at him, a little surprised by his remark.

He looked at me, irritated.

"Look, seriously, I'm sorry, I tell you!...I only wanted to check if you were asleep! I came over and you were peacefully lying there with the sun streaming through the window and you looked like a beautiful angel.....I couldn't help myself - I acted on the impulse and now I know better, because that's cost me a friend! I really wanted to get to know you as a friend! But I messed up, and now it's ruined, and I'm sorry, cos I never intended it to happen that way, and now I'm trying to appologise! Are you happy now?" he sighed.

I stepped back a few steps - maybe I'd jumped to conclusions.

"Yeah, yeah......okay, fine....I accept the apology."

Mattias's face cleared, and he looked relieved.

"Thanks. You wouldn't believe how bad I felt about it afterwards.....I wanted to undo the entire thing and restart."

I raised my eyebrows, feeling annoyed again.

"Hph! Then why didn't you come over and sort it out, for goodness sakes?!"

He looked embarrassed. "I didn't know how to talk to you about it. I'm sorry....by the way, could we please start over again, and be friends?"

I sighed. This guy must be crazy if he thinks I'll just trust him again, especially after what he just did.
But I accepted it anyway.

"Fine. We'll start over......as friends."

Warily, I held out my hand, and he shook it solemnly.
