Finally everyone was ready, and we all began walking down to the big round table. Me, Kat, and Iris found our three seats and sat together - Iris, Kat, and then me. The boys came out from the shed and sat down too.
Mattias sat next to me and grinned, and I felt my cheeks go slightly pink. Kat and Iris noticed, and shot me some knowing glances, then began laughing.
We finished our dinner and were waiting for dessert. Most of the teens began to drift off - they wanted to ride in the semi-electric train. Mr Delton used it to transport his wheat, and the track was in a large loop that went right round most of the property - it carried three little carriges and seven cargo trucks. One of the older Delton cousins was driving it - he was about 18 or so.
Soon almost all the teens had gone to ride in the train, Mattias and I were the only ones left.
I was listening to the grown-ups on the next table, and Mattias was caught up in his own little world, ignoring everybody and everything - he had been like this all through dinner.
Suddenly, he turned to me and said, "Come on, let's go and get out of here."
I quickly agreed, so we got up and walked away together.
We were going the opposite direction to the train, and I asked where on earth we were going.
"Oh, to the train of course...... we're just taking the longer route." replied Mattias, matter-of-factly, "It's nicer this way and we get a bit o' time to talk."
The sun was fairly low in the sky - it was almost sunset. We walked along together in silence, admiring the landscape. It was a very comfortable silence, we were walking along with our shoulders touching.
After a while, Mattias started talking about the farm, and what he and his did mostly. He told all sorts of fun stories - about riding horses and motorbikes and tractors, and how they went swimming in the creek and the dam in summer, how him and his brother tried riding a cow one day when they were younger......
I listened and wished I could've done some of the things he'd mentioned. Eventually, we came to the track and looked up to see the train coming.
Mattias laughed.
"There's somthing else, but I probally shouldn't tell you. We're not supposed to do it.....but dad doesn't bother telling us off any more...." He laughed again, at the train.

Romansa"What'cha looking at?" I asked, in a cheeky tone. "Uh.....nothing......you just look nicer, that's all...." Mattias muttered. I grinned smugly. That's right, Mattias - never judge people on their first appearance. Liz is on her way up to a swim ca...
