We all stopped and looked at each other in shock. We were leaving?! Now?!!
A stab of pain went though my heart, as I caught Matt's eye......he was just as shocked as I.
Without hardly knowing what I was doing, I quickly excused myself and hurried outside, knowing Mattias would soon follow me. Sure enough, I heard footsteps behind me.
I turned around to face Mattias's pain-stricken eyes.
"What shall we do?!" I asked, hopelessly.
Mattias pressed his lips together tightly, and I could see his heart was just as broken as mine. Finally, he said, in a tight voice "I don't know.....I...I didn't tell you before...but I-I've gotta go to boarding school, in the Big City......and I'm leaving at the end of this month!....so even if you do come again....I...I won't be here!"
I looked at him in dismay, and he stared sadly at the ground. I didn't know what to do either, so we just stood and looked miserably at each other, wondering what would happen to us.
Soon everyone else came out too, and we all gathered in a group by the car. I went around and said my goodbyes to the family, but left Mattias till last. I didn't know how I could bear parting with him.
At last I walked back over to where he was standing sadly at the edge, apart from the main group.
We looked at each other, and this time it was who Mattias looked away.
"Look, I'm so sorry about-" he began, but I broke him off mid-sentence by throwing my arms about his neck and hugging him tightly.
"Oh, Mattias, I'll miss you so much!" I cried, my now tear-stained face pressed against his chest, "I wish that we didn't have to leave now!!!" He wrapped his arms tightly round me in a big, strong comforting hug, as I began to sob.
He sighed deeply, and, unable to say anything, gently kissed the top of my head.
"I'll miss you awfully too, Liza....." he finally said, his voice breaking with emotion, "I wish I could come with you. But I want you to know, that it doesn't matter if you have to leave, because I still love you and maybe some day we'll meet again, when we're older, and if you're still willing, we can work it out so that we'll be able to be together for ever. If you ever miss me.....remember that - and I'll never forget you!"
I hugged him tighter, and smiled through my tears.
"Yes! Oh, wouldn't that be so wonderful and perfect!....."
He nodded, and I suddenly realized that my mum was ready to go. I released Matt, and we took one, long last look at each other. Then I quickly turned and ran back to the car, gulping back my tears.
Mum started the motor, and we drove off, out the gate. I turned back and waved, hardly able to see through my tears.....
A/N:
So, sorry guys.....not only does Lisa has to leave, but Mattias is off to boarding school, and we're nearly at the end of the book - only one tiny chapter left.....and when you see that, you're gonna hate me even more.......sorry.
However, I still want you guys to tell me what you think of this story (and yes, there'll eventually be another book on Lizzy).
Just as a favor.....if you could write down your first thoughts on finishing this book, I would be highly obliged to you all - seeing as this has taken me about six months to rewrite out my original story, which I wrote down years ago, in one of my old story diaries.
I love reading your reactions a lot - it's like I can almost picture my readers face as you all read it, and that's the whole reason I write on here!!!
So........if you don't mind, please take a couple of seconds and tell me what you honestly think about "Country Dream"!
Thank you all very much, with much love from,
