Chapter 9: Mom's Call for "Work"

I walked to my room after dinner and grabbed my towel to take a quick shower before I fell asleep. Fran had reappeared before me and said, "Taking a shower now? We have plenty to talk."

"Yes, I know Fran, but I smell like a boyfriend, I have the smell of Lucas' room on me." I replied

Fran flied back to my room as I walked in the bathroom and turned the shower on. I stepped in as I hear someone say my name so quietly...

I decided to quickly finish my shower. The voice came again, but it sounded familiar, I stepped out, dried myself and ran to my room and dressed quickly.

Fran was observing my room carefully as I dressed. "Look there's a Shadow in here." The Shadow was floating in the corner of my room.

"Come on Lucas, that trick won't work." I said to get him to his regular form.

Fran hesitated and cast a portal and ordered me to pull the shadow through the portal. I pull the Shadow through the portal and a similar hand was out.

I kept pulling, giving all my strength to pull whoever was passing through the vortex. Fran kept holding the vortex open.

After the Shadow gave up, I jolted back upon the release of resistance, landed on my bed, and whoever I pulled out, landed on top of me..,

Lucas made eye contact with me on my bed, and quickly got off of me as his face turned red.

"I knew that it was you, Lucas." I said, when I stood up. Fran was staring around making sure there were no more Shadows around. 

"Why did you come back Lucas?" I said, my mom was walking up the stairs, "Quickly hide in my closet!!"

My mom knocked on the door softly, "Seth? I need to speak to you." I opened the door after Lucas hid and Fran disappeared.

"Yes mom?" I said anxiously. "Seth, I'm going away for a week or so, the company where I work at asked me to go to Denver and do a presentation. Hopefully, they won't have to stay for too long. Anyway, I need you to watch Ashley while I'm gone."

I stood for a moment to analyze what she said and replied, "Okay, I'll take care of her while you're gone."

My mom had smiled, and packed her luggage as Ashley and I wait at the drive way. "Bye Ashley, I'll be back soon. Watch over her Seth. Love you all.. Call me in case of any problems.."

Her car began to disappear from sight. She is gone. for at least a week.., great..., now I'm alone with Lucas, first week of school, assaulted by a ghost.., what else is in store for me....?
