Cut it short cause I really wasn't feeling it, hope y'all enjoy though.

Custody

Nia Riley

I sat behind my huge Mac monitor responding to some recent emails while I waited for a call from Chris. He had court this morning, and hopefully if everything turned out as planned, he and Royalty were supposed to be spending three days a week together, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

He hadn't texted or hit me up yet though, so all I could do was be productive while I waited.

I wasn't exactly jumping for joy about Royalty, but I'd grown to accept it, and now I was just happy that Nia was getting everything she deserved, treating and playing with Chris the way she did.

Chris genuinely cared about the wellbeing of his daughter, I didn't know how much I felt that for Nia, she just seemed to be chasing the check, and I prayed the court and the judge saw that too.
There was a knock on my office door, just as I logged out my computer and got ready to meet Claire for lunch. I hadn't seen my girl in a while, she had just came back to Los Angeles fresh off a movie set in Saudi Arabia where she was hired to be a makeup artist. I was beyond proud of her and her craft and how far she'd taken it since I moved out of her place two years ago.

On my way to pick you up girly! - Claire, 12:42 PM

Alright, I'll make the reservation! - Nia, 12:42 PM

I pulled up the hibachi restaurant Claire wanted to go on my computer and dialed the number when another set of knocks landed on my door. I forgot they were still there.

I stood up, walking over to the door and opening it quickly, revealing a face I wasn't expecting to see again.

"Hey what-, what happened to you?" I was about to ask him what he was doing here, until I saw a bandaid covering his nose, and a dark circle below his right eyelid.

He shook his head. "Nothing. Can I come in? You busy?" His eyes studied me as he waited for me to invite him in.

I really shouldn't.

"That doesn't look like nothing, your eye is bruised."

"If I tell you what happened you gone let me in? Why we standing at the door? You busy?"

"Yeah I'm busy, I'm going to lunch in a minute."

Good job Nia. Don't let him in here, don't let him get you all hot and bothered for nothing.

"I won't be more than a minute."

"Uh." I paused, my mind not coming up with anymore excuses. "Okay Dave, wassup?"

"Just wanted to check up on you, make sure you were good. The last time I saw you you had enough Henny in you to kill somebody." He laughed, taking a seat in front of my desk like a client would.

"Ha, thanks for checking in. I'm good, how're you?"

"Chilling. I just dropped a new mixtape, Kairi Chanel."

"Aww that's great! Album next?"

"Yeah I'm in grind mode now, I wanna drop something that feels way different than my tapes."
